First off - congratulations and have a wonderful honeymoon.

We were in St. Lucia in '88 and I remember the electrical currents were different, so you will need an adapter. I don't remember what kind, it was a big square thing. I would check with the hotel to make sure (things could have been updated) you have the right kind. Without it, none of your electric things will work.

Oh, I just remembered, my sister was there on her honeymoon in '03 - I can ask her where she stayed and the type of electricity.

I found this on a search:

Electricity
The electrical current in St Lucia is 220 volts AC, 50 Cycles, with three-pin sockets in square UK style, so you may well need an adapter. Some hotels offer dual voltage or transformers, so you are advised to check in advance.

Thanks for the Congrats...I'm getting pretty excited now :)

hmmm...I wonder where I'd find one of those adapters...do you have any ideas?

Many hardware stores or travel stores will sell adapters.

Have a wonderful wedding, a fantastic honeymoon and a great life together :)

Most stores that sell luggage will have them with their travel accessories.

Dramamine (for air/sea sickness) even if you don't think you'll need it, bring it. Rob got sick at one of the simulator "rides" at the CN tower in Toronto. He had to leave in the middle of the ride to keep from vomiting. He's never gotten sick like that before or since.

Asprin and Solarcaine spray for sunburns

Do you have a digital camera? If you do, I'd get the device (like a card reader with memory) that lets you save your photos onto it every day. That way if something happened to your camera all your photos from your entire honeymoon wouldn't be on it--just the ones from after your last "backup".

Extra money to buy some of the gorgeous jewelery they sell so cheaply on the islands. :D

Hope you two have a great honeymoon. Congratulations!

Erin, you should be able to find the adapter at a major department store, i.e. The Bay, where they sell suitcases, etc. or any of the stores that specialize in luggage (in the Eaton Centre, street level to your right when you come in off of St-Catharine St. - the name escapes me).

Congratulations on your wedding and have fun on the honeymoon!

Bentleys maybe?

mosquito spray. The first time we were there we had no problem with this. The last time we were there, it did get mosquito-y at sunset time. You can also buy bracelets in St lucia which magically keep them away. I wore two as anklets because that's where I was getting bitten and it worked!

Immodium or something like that.... you never know how you will react to different food/water that the filter may not catch.

oh yeah, the baseball cap is a good idea. I ended up buying a hat there because my head was getting really sunburned from all the snorkeling!

Cash in small bills - we stayed at the small Sandals on St Lucia and every time we left the resort someone was wanting a tip...drove me crazy.

Water bottles to go with your filter?

Extra sunscreen...you can never have too much :)

Congrats on the wedding/ honeymoon! If you get a chance, be sure to go snorkeling...St Lucia didn't have the most fish that we've seen, but it certainly had some of the prettiest!

OK I have to ask - Gumbeaux - DUCT TAPE?!? Talk about being prepared.

Erin Congrats and best wishes for a hitch-free wedding and relaxing honeymoon. I went through this last year and hate to say due to my ridiculously demanding job had a lot of last minute snafus - but in hindsight they're funny, it all worked out in the end so if you're stressed, please PM me and I'll make you feel better with some funny stories!!

We just got back from our honeymoon in Mexico. Unless you are particular about your own hairdrier, you might check b/c our hotel had them in the room. Might save some room in your bag. We seriously overpacked. I would have been fine with a different "nice" outfit for dinner each night, and about 1/2 the clothes I brought for the week. I ended up spending most of the trip in my swim suit, so the cute/casual stuff never was worn. Not to be crude, but you won't need a whole lot of PJs being that its your honeymoon  .

I agree with the Imodium, we definetly used ours. Once again depending on the resort, many will provide free bottled water which would save you taking the Brita.

Wish I had brought dental floss and playing cards. Oh and if you like to read, bring a good book for those days laying in the sun.

Good luck on the wedding and have a great time on your honeymoon. And enjoy your time with your new husband.

Funnybone...which resort did she stay at? Sandals? I'm curious since I'm staying at a smaller resort...Ti Kaye Village Resort (www.tikaye.com)...like to know what her thoughts were of where she stayed...

Congrats!

One thing we has that came in really handy for day trips was a small backpack that we could slip bottles of water, sunblock, etc in. Also, make sure you bring plenty of batteries and film if needed. They're $$$ at the resorts.

One site I found helpful was www.tripadvisor.com . You can look up your specific hotel/resort and see what other people brought with them and insider tips.

I used Tripadvisor to find the resort we wanted to stay at...I agree it's great for researching...

Congratulations and have a wonderful time!

We went to Jamaica and stayed at a Couples resort. They had one fine dining restaurant at the resort and you had to wear nice shoes. No sneakers, no sandals, no flip flops! My husband did not bring nice shoes. We called the front desk and asked them if we would still be allowed in and they said no. They were very polite about it, but still said no  . I was so sad, b/c I had heard it was really good food. So, my husband called the front desk and asked if there was a lost and found or some shoes he could borrow :D :p (I'm laughing as I'm typing this, b/c it was soooo funny). They had a pair of cowboy boots he could borrow. They were one size too small. He was a trooper and a man in love ;) ! Poor guy, it was hilarious! So, not sure if they are strict about shoes, but you might want to make sure Marc has some nice shoes or call the resort and aske before you leave!! :)

Enjoy yourself.

OK I have to ask - Gumbeaux - DUCT TAPE?!? Talk about being prepared.

It has come in handy several times when traveling. On a recent cruise I used it several times. I taped the electrical cord on the hair dryer to keep it out of the sink. I also taped a copy of the cruise newsletter on the wall next to the bed so that it would not get lost and I could keep up with the time of events on the ship. I also used it to remove lint off of my black suit on formal night.

So many people pack duct tape when they travel that it is now made in small, flat, rolls that don't take up much space in your luggage.

This (http://frugalliving.about.com/cs/tips/a/ducttape.htm) link shows only a few uses for duct tape.

Have a great time in St. Lucia! And, of course, a wonderful and blip-free wedding!

When we were in St. Lucia, we drove from the Sandals down to the Pitons, and I was so carsick, I thought I'd never make it... All this to say, take Dramamine or Bonine (I think Bonine makes you less sleepy). The roads are killer! We flew into the northern airport, which was only a little bit away from the Sandals, but the people who flew into the southern, larger airport, also had carsick problems...

What a beautiful place you picked! I am so happy for you... :D
