Anyone out there today?
It's a cold (44º with a high of 49º), rainy morning here in IN. Yuck. We've definitely been spoiled this spring with warm, dry weather, but it's been rainy and cold since Wednesday and it's not due to move out any time soon. I actually like a chilly, rainy day here and there, but not for days on end. The dog and I need to get out! :)
Not much on the agenda this weekend. I did some baking yesterday - the cold weather gets my baking juices going - and will probably do a bit more before the weekend's out.
Only 7.5 more work days left for me! We actually have 10 days left of school, but I'm going out to PA next week to close on our house. And I took a half day for DS's middle school awards one morning. I can't believe we'll be moving in 4 weeks! At least this time I get to sit back and let the packers do most of the work. Much nicer!
Well, I hope the weather is better where you are and have a great weekend. :) I'll be sitting here hoping for a system to come through and blow this danged low-pressure outta here!

*******skid********* I'm here! :D
Is it monsoon weather where you are Alysha? I'm building an ark.
DH just left to put the dock in at the cottage so he'll be gone all day. Oy. I've been cooped up all week, what's another day?
What is your new house like? Have you posted pics? Has your house sold? Nosy, huh?
Tonight I am taking ssd and her friend out to dinner then going to see Patrick's play again (closing night). Other than that, no plans. I've been baking too - and I need to stop it!!! My boys are getting too spoiled!
I'm trying to make a list for Trader Joes - I'm going to make a run for it sometime next week. Long trip.
Enjoy the day! Hopefully SOMEONE is getting some sun!

Sorry to hear about your bad weather, ladies :( We've had our fair share, too, but it's supposed to be a great, sunny weekend with highs in the 80s. Which is odd considering DS1 has a soccer tournament all weekend (usually that means snow on Mother's Day ;) )
That will suck up a good part of the weekend, as well as getting a couple of practice matches in with DS2, who has his District tennis tournament next week. Also need to get DS1 motivated to study for his finals next week; get the patio furniture out and cleaned; clean the house and prep for our BBQ on Sunday. That should about handle it!
Happy Mother's Day!

Morning all!
Well, I'm only awake because I got tired of the sun coming in a big high window in my bedroom and chasing me across my bed because its so bright and hot! Really, I should still be asleep so I wouldn't be able to feel my stomach telling me how angry it is for all the alcohol it had to consume last night. ;)
Its already 70 here and its supposed to be near 80 which is nice since we've had some pretty cool weekends thus far this spring. I think the only thing crazy I did last night was commit to making a cake for a bbq tomorrow night so I need to get that done but that's about it.
Okay, it looks like another 15 minutes or so and the sun will be high evough to not be hitting my bed. :o

Robyn - Sounds like you had fun last night! Alas, now that I am past 40, those nights are few and far between because I would be laid up for 3 days :p
Debie - I'm jealous! They've been here, but I can't remember when and we had something else going on, so I have never seen them.
Off to sunscreen myself do I don't fry at the soccer fields :D

Hi Sheila!!!!
How's it going with you? Good to see you around :)
Alysha, since you are closing I'm assuming your house sold, right? That didn't take too long. Ours closes here on the 26th of May and she's letting us rent back another month.
We made an offer on a house in WA and I'm very excited about it. I am going up there the day we have the inspection (date TBD) so I can see it in person!

Very exciting news here! DS was selected to be on the senior all-state baseball team. He was so happy when he got the letter yesterday. Debie, he emailed the coach at Calvin to let him know about it ;)
What they have is a Treasure Valley team (Boise area) and another team made up of players from the rest of the state. They then have a double-header on the 27th.
Next Saturday the 20th is our neighborhood yard sale. I hope to get rid of a lot of cr@p so we won't have to move so much stuff!

Well, it's been raining every day since Wednesday and we've gotten several inches. Most of it has not be torrential downpours, however. This is our first house with a basement, so I have been nervously checking the walls to make sure everything is staying dry.
Uh, oh. Now you've given me an opening to blab about the house...... ;) :D
Our new house is, well, okay and we hope to make it better. It's quite a bit smaller than our new IN house, but bigger than our old IN house. It's a colonial that I think is not particularly attractive, but it's nice. I call it a tad pretentious - a house that's trying to look like more than it really is inside. ;) :D I usually like colonials, but this one has the weird arch thing going on in the middle that I don't like and with colors I wouldn't pick. ETA: The reason we bought it was for the views. It's a beautiful location and a big yard - a yard seemed to be pretty hard to find out there at a reasonable price. Here's a photo of the outside:

On con side we will have fewer windows (I love all the windows in our IN house - it's definitely made me a more cheerful person!), less space, a less open floor plan, we'll be farther out from town, and the laundry is in the basement. We'll also have to contend with carpet replacement and lots of wallpaper that must come down as quickly as possible. I hate wallpaper (with few exceptions)!!!
On the plus side, we'll have a 3-car garage, a much nicer deck, great views of the mountains (swapping nice golf course views for mountain views - not a bad deal), a bigger yard, 6-panel doors, decent storage and a wood-burning fireplace (no fireplace in our present house and we've missed it).
Just for fun, here are two more photos. One of our new kitchen with the ugly wallpaper and one of the master bath with more ugly wallpaper and more ugly oak stuff. I'd love to gut the kitchen and start over, but I think we'll have to settle for replacing the ugly hunter green countertops and the vinyl flooring and, of course, getting rid of the wallpaper. I'll look into possibly painting the cabinets or refinishing them somehow.

Whoops - forgot to talk about that part.
No luck on selling our IN home yet. Only 3 showings so far and the open house. But we're going ahead and closing on our PA home because our relocation company will by our IN home if we don't sell it. They are also covering one of the mortgages for 2 months after we close on the PA house. In the end, we might get one month of overlap that we have to pay for, but it shouldn't be too bad.
Congrats on your offer! It's a beautiful home! And congrats on DS! I hope those kinds of things will happen for my little sports nut some day. :)
Hi to Sheila and Robyn too. :)

Alysha, your house looks great!!! It looks like it's out in a more rural area which my DH would really love.
Looks like your doggie will have room to run!

Both of your homes seem really nice!
It is absolutely gorgeous out, and I am stuck doing work for an attorney that I work with. It was going to be my first weekend in a while that I had nothing planned. Oh well, I guess I should get back to it. At least the pay is good. ;)

::drools over lindrusso's kitchen::
i FINALLY did a little spring cleaning today, and i have ambitions get some other stuff done, since DF is leaving for band practice shortly. i was thinking about printing out little menus for mother's day brunch tomorrow (i'll be cooking with my FFIL). partly, that'll help me make a difinitive decision on what we'll be making, and then we'll shop for supplies in the morning.
i have a skirt that i've started working on, and i may try to get it pieced together this weekend, but i also have to finish a logo that i'm working on, maybe go outside by the creek and read a book, and then there's always video games...hahaha! basically i'll be lounging around today unless i get inspired to do some of the projects around the house that i'm always putting off.
ok, well APPARENTLY i have a cat that desperately wants to play with me, so i better go :D
hope everyone has a great weekend!!

Is he/she sitting on your keyboard? :D
I haven't had a cat in forever, but I used to love those plays for attention. My favorite cat used to come sit right on my book or plop down on whatever I was doing. :)
Here's the kitchen I'm leaving behind (we just moved 6 months ago). To the right of the main kitchen area is the fridge and MORE cabinets, including a pantry cabinet. The second photos shows the eating area with LOTS of windows. Again, it's not the kind of cabinetry I would pick, but it's a great kitchen. It would have been much better once we redid the countertops too. I didn't know how much I'd grow to like it.
