A kinder, gentler bulletin board

Hi everyone,
I just wanted to say that I have really enjoyed reading the posts on this board. On the two old boards we had I noticed that sometimes comments came off a little cruel. I don't know that they were ever intended that way but with the delay in posts, people didn't have the chance to correct themselves before a post was misinterpreted and then all heck broke loose. Keep it up everyone and have a great 4th!

Maybe you can answer a question I've asked a few times, but keeps getting overlooked. I've only been around a couple of months. Do you know how long CL has had a bulletin board and approximately when activity picked up?

And just for the record-- I am SOOO glad CL put in the "edit" ability this time around. Should anyone actually end up foot in mouth, at least there's an opportunity to pull it out!

I don't know how long the BBs has been in operation -- I've used it since (I think)mid-1998. It certainly helps keep an interest in CL and it's recipes.

Actually, I can't answer your question. I know I started using the BB about one and a half years ago. This is by far the best format they have had though.

Actually, I don't know for sure either. BB's have been live since I've been here (April 2000) but we recently (June 12) changed the BB software to this "kinder, gentler" format.

I think they are running faster, easier-to-use, and very entertaining and informative to read. We do have our bugs, but one-by-one we're getting them worked out. Growing pains.

That old foot in the mouth thing can be really uncomfortable! I too appreciate the edit capability.

I have to agree with ElinorC. Mid '98 sounds right, and I believe that this is the third time they have changed the bulletin board. This one is definately much, much faster and more lively. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/wink.gif
