Well, sort of. I made the Earl Grey Gelato from the July issue, substituting green tea bags for Earl Grey. I can't account for the authenticity of the gelato as I've never been to Italy, but it was a delicious and refreshing treat. When I first tried last night it seemed really sweet and I was thinking I would cut back on the sugar the next time. But when I tried it again after lunch today it tasted fine.

BTW, the Cuisinart ice cream maker is a real winner. I absolutely love it. Next up: chocolate frozen yogurt. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif

Sounds great! I can't wait until I get my July issue. I also just got a Cuisinart ice cream maker.

Haven't received my July issue yet....maybe this weekend. I can't wait to read the gelato recipes in it. Looks like us Ice Cream maker owners convinced quite a few of you guys! You will love it and have fun! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

I *love* green tea ice cream. Did it taste like the kind you get in Japanese restaurants? Since it's gelato, I don't know if the consistency would be different.

SusanMac, it was actually nothing like the ice cream you get in Japanese restaurants. It was more like a granita or frozen margarita in texture. I did use (dare I admit this?) skim milk, which may have removed some creaminess. However the tea flavor was quite pronounced, and it was delicious. And very refreshing.

I'm going to try this again with coffee to make something like a frappucino. Yum!
