It's Wednesday, and time to think about wine. This week, may I suggest Penfolds Koonunga Hill Shiraz/Cabernet Sauvignon from Australia. It was mentioned in the June issue of CL as a great value.

Here is a link to a description of this wine:

SusieO,
I'll be on the hunt for a bottle of the Koonunga Hill...since my hubby is an Aussie...wine from Australia is mostly what we drink...we tried some Pinot Gris/Grigios from last week and didn't like any of them...one bottle poached some very lovely chicken breasts, tho...guess I'm still a "Chardonnay girl" at heart...I do love this idea...it's helping me broaden my horizons ;-}

Hey there, iqueen! The CL article specified the 1998, but the store where I shop only had the 1999. I would go with '98 if you can find it. I haven't tried this one yet, but I did try another Penfolds red(I think it was Syrah/Medved????). I bought it from the evineyard.com 3 for $21 special, and it was wonderful.

Hi Everyone!

I just wanted to add another vote for the Penfold's Koonunga Hill Shiraz/Cabernet Sauvignon. Also, if you can find it, the Penfold's Bin 407 Cabernet Sauvignon (Vintage 1998) is wonderful! It's a bit more pricey here, but it is definately worth it.

BTW-Gabbyh, we tried the Brookland Valley Chardonnay, and we all loved it. Thanks for the suggestion.

Bumping this up for the weekend. I am going to the store to buy my bottle today and plan on drinking it this evening with friends for one of their 60th birthday party.
