Quick Poll:
What's your favorite CL appetizer?
In the summer we have weekly family dinners at my parents' lake house (my parents, two sisters w/families, my husband and me). We rotate between bringing app, main course, dessert, and having the week "off". I have apps this week and am drawing a blank- most of my standards are really fatty and I'm trying to avoid them (especially full fat cheesy stuff). Any ideas, o creative ones? TIA.

Tex Mex Black Bean Dip!
This is in CL Complete, maybe in five star (yes?).
I've seen lots of people say the same.
You do have to saute a bunch of stuff and do lots of chopping.

Another BIG Vote for the Asiago Cheese Dip. I'm known for that dip with my friends because I always bring it to parties!

One of my favorites is the spinach-artichoke dip. I made it recently for a party and everyone loved it - and didn't believe it was LF. It was great with baguette slices. There were some great reviews of it in a previous thread. I will post the recipe and the asiago dip recipe.
SPINACH AND ARTICHOKE DIP
Ingredients
2 cups (8 oz) shredded mozz cheese, divided
1/2 cup fat free sour cream
1/2 (1 oz) fresh shredded parmesan cheese, divided
1/4 tsp pepper
3 garlic cloves, minced
1 can (14 oz) artichoke hearts, drained and chopped
1 (8 oz) block fat free cream cheese
1 (8 oz) 1/3-less-fat block cream cheese
1/2 (10 oz) chopped frozen spinach, thawed, drained and squeezed dry
1) Preheat over to 350 degrees
2) Combine 1.5 cups of the mozz cheese, sour cream, 2 pbs parmesan cheese, and rest of ingredients in recipe until well blended. Put mixture into 1.5 quart baking dish. Sprinkle with 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese and 2 tbsp parmesan cheese. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until bubbly and golden brown. Serve with tortilla chips.
Serving size 1/4 cup of dip and 6 chips; 5 grams of fat

Agreed--the Asiago Dip is awesome. It's in the May or June '99 issue, I believe.

catahrine, I just put the spinach artichoke dip into my master cook and I found the nutritional information indicated that this dip is not low fat. And I even changed the mozzarella cheese to part skim mozzarella. Here is the nutritional info I got assuming 20 servings.
Per Serving (excluding unknown items): 92 Calories; 5g Fat (51.9% calories from fat); 8g Protein; 3g Carbohydrate; trace Dietary Fiber; 18mg Cholesterol; 255mg Sodium. Exchanges: 0 Grain(Starch); 1 Lean Meat; 1/2 Vegetable; 1/2 Fat; 0 Other Carbohydrates.
I don't know how many servings it is supposed to make, but regarless of the serving size, the % of calories from fat is still 52%.
where did this recipe come from and does anyone have another nutritional analysis on this?
editing here...
unfortunately the same holds true for the Asiago dip, but in that case, 60% of the calories are from fat. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/frown.gif
