Did I miss something? Why can't I read any of the old threads when I do a search? I finally went out and bought a crockpot - now I can't access any of the recipes that convinced me to buy it! Wahhhhhhhhh

I noticed that after they BB was serviced, the total number of posts went from over 60K to 30K. Probably the CL database can't hold that much old data

Alisa, try searching the archives. I ran a search on "crockpot" using just the subject line, and came up with eleven threads.

Thanks for the help - Maelynn says:
"They've probably been moved to the Archives. When you're searching, select to search either "all open forums and archives" or
search one of the archives only. It takes a while for all related links
to an article to be cleaned out when they're moved to the archive.
Hope that works.

Try posting your question on the tech support BB. Maybe someone in charge will explain exactly what is wrong. We have all been assuming that it is something to do with the current archiving process.

I'm still having problems with many of the links in the archive--they give an Error! can't open message. A lot of good links and recipes can't be accessed. Hope they're not lost forever!

Forgive me if I am telling you something you already know, but since you are a newer member I thought I would explain how the searching works. Merely running a search is not automatically searching the "archives." When you do a search, there is a drop down menu of different places to search. You can choose Great Food, Healthy Living, Archive, Popular Posts, etc. The problems seem to be with the Great Food searches (currently active threads) because many of the threads from Great Food are being moved over into the Archive (where you can no longer reply, just read them). I have not had a single post so far that was in the actual Archive give me an error message. My assumption (and please correct me if I am wrong) is that you are searching Great Food and getting error messages. Yes? Try selecting "Archive" and run a search. You should not have a problem.

If all else fails, and you're getting error messages on threads which sound promising, try this as a temporary fix.
Jot down the name of the thread you want. Physically go into the archives (mind you, there are TWO archives, the general one and the popular threads archives) and look for it. Archived threads are in alphabetical order. It'll take some work this way, but if you're really desperate and the method Laura is suggesting for some inexplicable reason STILL doesn't work, it's another option.
Just so you know, as Jennie said, once we'd hit 50,000, we'd reached maximum capacity, so Maelynn was forced to do a mass archiving. Any threads older than six months should have been moved to one of the archives. We tend to have this same problem with error messages every time things are switched from the active forum to the archives. It will be corrected, I'm confident. Always has been before.
Hang on in there. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif
