I just got these from zappos.com today and can't decide if I should keep them. They're definitely different looking and remind me of bowling shoes. :D I do kind of have a thing for ugly shoes though. They're comfortable and were a good price...it's a $100 shoe that was on sale for $60. What do you think?

Do you want an honest opinion? I think they look like guys' shoes. Unless you are planning to wear them for hiking, I would return them.

But this is coming from someone who likes little, strappy, impractical shoes! :)

Are you over 65? :P

FWIW, I think they would be cute with jeans...

I think they are kind of cute for fall. I would keep them, With all of my feet problems I can never wear the real cute shoes, it has to be comfort of cute :( I may have to try a pair for myself. The bowling shoe look is very in right now.

How is the arch support in them?

To me they look like Italian Driving shoes. A little manish, but I would wear them for casual outing where a lot of walking is involved. Fall, back to school slacks and sweater weather.

Whether or not you will wear them should be the deciding factor.

I'm on my feet alot and have to have comfortable shoes; I'm also over 40.

I'd keep them if they're comfortable, but if you think they're ugly and in your heart-of-hearts know you won't wear them, return them.

How's that for a wishy-washy answer?

I think there's a difference between ugly-cute and just ugly. Personally, even if these are comfortable, you could probably get something a tad more attractive. Besides, zappos has a fabulous return policy. :)

Those look like Born shoes - which I love, they are very comfortable! I've seen that style before and think they're cute, and $60 for them is a good deal. The only reason I didn't buy them for myself is the near-$100 price tag. I might look into a pair now, though, if Zappos has them at 40% off :)
I say keep them!

If I have to ask if I should keep something--I probably don't LOVE it and won't wear it often--or at all! I'm with Barbara: if you'll wear them and they're comfortable, then yes--if you're totally undecided, then no...you probably won't be any more decided when you're deciding to WEAR them later. And your $60 could be better spent. A bargain ISN't one if you don't wear it!

I agree with if you are asking than you probably are having doubts to begin with. These fall in the ugly category to me...not ugly - cute..not even geeky cute or funky fresh. Just ugly. :D

Heinously and egregiously ugly -- you couldn't pay me to wear those on a regular basis.

One of the great things about shoes is that one can get cute shoes that are comfortable -- ECCO and Dansko both make really comfortable shoes that don't shriek orthopedic.

Born shoes are my favorites. If you have to ask if they're cute, you might not like them that well. I have seen cuter shoes like these. Check out Cole Haan's loafers with nike air support. I also wouldn't be happy with the leather finish on that particular pair of Borns. I think they would scuff easily.

J Jill has some cute sporty shoes. They're also having a killer Memorial Day sale. I found out thanks to mgs. Thanks again, Meg! I can't wait to finally get that jacket! :D

Yes, they are Borns.
Thanks for all the honest opinions! The "ugly" comments had me cracking up! :D I'm very indecisive so that's why I needed help deciding. They just weren't "me", so I've decided to send them back. And FWIW, I was only going to wear them w/jeans. I think the price and the great reviews at zappos were clouding my judgement. Also, I just bought my first pair of Born shoes the other day and really like them, so I was on zappos looking for more Born shoes. These are the shoes I got and I love the look of these. I wasn't crazy about the "leaf-embossed heel" but it's not that noticeable when I'm wearing them. I've gotten several compliments on them.

The arch suppport is just so-so. You can read all the reviews at the link I posted above.

The sandals are tres cute.

You should be lucky those first shoes aren't you -- unless you are aiming for a role as the prison matron. :D

I just got a pair similar to these--one solid band across the top, and a plain stacked wedge heel, and soooo comfortable! The cushioning and the arch support are perfect for me--I can wear them all day without a thought.
(Glad you didn't keep the other ones ;) )

Linda, your new shoes are very attractive. I like the embossed leaf design. I wasn't sure about the first pair - this new pair are definitely KEEPERS!

I love those sandals! I think the leaves are cute, but most people won't notice them. I am looking for a new pair of brown sandals. They will be Borns; I just have to decide on what style. I love the height of those, but I also need some that aren't as high. I tend to roll my ankles pretty regularly and high heels are an issue for everyday. (I have ehlers-danlohs syndrome so 99% of the time I don't hurt myself when I roll my ankle. It looks painful, but it isn't. Last time I broke the strap off my sandal. :o  )
