DH and I took a ride today to Marino's to check it out. From where I live it took us a good 25 minutes. We forgot our styrofoam cooler so we had to make a stop and buy one plus ice. Once we were off Rt. 9, it was a nice ride on the backroads with beautiful old houses. DH knew how to get to Natick Center so we traveled a different route that the website posted. The directions look to be exact though. We road the train which takes you on a tour of the farmland among the animals, fruit trees. The cost of the ride was $4.00 a piece for adults and the conductor or drive of the train never collected the tickets. So, anyone could have gotten on or off at not pay in advance. It was about a ten minute ride but not worth the $4.00 a person. The fruit tree's branches are trained to grow sideways instead of tall like most fruit trees. There is a french name for this but I can't think of it....someone help me here.. Very clean and well kept orchards and vegetable gardens. Everything is organically grown. The best part of the couple of hours we visited there was the gelato which is basically what we traveled there for. It is delicious and at $3.99 a pint...it should be! I came home with 6 pints of different flavors....3 for me and 3 for my sister. It was a nice experience to see and taste but we wouldn't travel there frequently. Its a nice place to visit maybe once or twice a year...maybe another visit in the fall when the foliage is nice and the apples are at peak. Its also a nice place to take the children for animals and train ride.
If you go make sure you take the coupon which is offered at their website. I forgot mine and could have received $5.00 off my purchase. Oh, and bring a cooler for your gelato or any other perishable. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif
