I've been searching the health food stores for Pirate's Booty in Calgary and no one's even heard of it. I've gotten some pretty strange looks too!! Anyone find any in another province??

None in Nova Scotia erinyyc - maybe I'll ask my sister in Toronto to comb the city - she always says they have everything there...

Hi Erin,
I saw Pirate's Booty in a health food store in Montreal. Haven't tried it though, since I practically never snack (my grandmother would be proud of me -- she spent so much time trying to teach me to eat at mealtime and not in between http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif ). However, I think I'll go pick up a bag if the store still stocks it so I can see what all the fuss is about http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif
Hi Erin!
We have Pirate's Booty here at Capers in Victoria. I see you are a flight attendant. May I ask what airline you fly with? Capers has three locations in Vancouver!!
I will be in Calgary this summer for a trackmeet and then on to Edmonton for the World Track and Field Champs. Can't wait!!

Hi Kima!
This is one of the few times I wish I still lived in Vancouver! I think I may have to start checking out the specialty shops here, still no luck with the health food stores.
I've worked for Canadian Airlines for 13 years, but now that Air Canada has taken us over I guess I work for them now. It's been quite difficult since the "combining" of the 2 airlines and I have been thinking of leaving and going back to school. Alot of the Air Canada people have quite a bit of anger towards us and I don't deal well with that. I'm a "get along with everyone" kind of person. Oh well, maybe 13 years is enough, and I find I dread going to work these days. I actually find the thought of going back to school quite exciting, although the lack of income scares my DH. Whatever I choose, he's alwasy behind me.
Good luck in your trackmeet and the championships!! I'm cheering for you!!

Hey Erin- hope I didn't mislaead you!! I am not in the meet- a coach in Calgary and a very excited spectator in Edmonton!!! So you don't miss Vancouver? Just out of curiousity why do you prefer Calgary? I don't mean that you should miss Vancouver(It is hard to convey meaning over the computer!) I just wonder what you like about Calgary.
As far as work goes I can imagine how stressful the merger must be for you guys. I too debate going back to school- I am a sub teacher and am getting a bit tired of it but if I don't work no needed income for the family. Also I am 43 now, not old by any means but the thought of an exam scares the h*** out of me. My memory isn't quite as sharp as it was at 20!! I guess we need to ignore the fear and go fot it right?

Kima, I'd have to say it's about 60-40 on the Calgary-Vancouver issue. I grew up in N. Van., Deep Cove area, so I really miss the ocean down the street, Mt. Seymour as my backyard and the lush green of everything. Also, going to the beach, walking the sea wall at Stanley Park, mild winters, my friends, the products available, and the over all beauty of the city (if you don't look too deep http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif.
In Calgary....I met my DH while visiting my parents just after they moved here. After a long distance relationship for a few months, looking for a new job, and living with 4 roommates in a 2 bedroom apt. I thought I'd give Calgary I try. The rest is a very romantic story. What I do like about the city, other than hubby and family, is it's sooo friendly. We can afford a cozy home without a long commute in heavy traffic (although the traffic is getting worse), only 45 min. from the mountains and 60 min. from Banff, everything is much more laid back and not so hectic, NO PST! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif, wonderful new friends, lower prices on just about everything so we have the means to do many more things than we could in Van.
I guess it all comes down to personal priorities, to each his own. My DH has a job he loves which makes for a happier home life, and it would be very difficult for him to find anything similar else where. We take a lot of advantage of my travel benefits(sp?) and I fly to Van. to visit about every month or two.
I do hate the winters, although we've had very mild ones lately, so I'd have to say I hate driving in snow!!! The poeple here seem to panic on the roads when it rains and drive calmly in the snow. I am the complete opposite "hey people, it's just a little rain!! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/rolleyes.gif". Also the lack of a season called SPRING!!
Anyway, I've noticed I have begun to babble on and on......
Good luck to your team in Calgary and enjoy your time in Edmonton!
Erin
Thanks for your reply Erin. We moved back to the island after living in Kimberley for 5 years so Calgary was our city. You sure are right about the cost of living! The prices here in Victoria are crazy though no where near Vancouver. How a young couple can buy a house there is beyond me.I grew up in Van. and now would not live there for anything. The traffic drives me crazy!! It is a beautiful city- but if you look below the surface there are alot of problems. Everyone I know in a house has been broken into!
Well I guess we have strayed well off the topic of food! Thanks for your encouragement re. track. I will be in Calgary for the Cdn. Junior Champs. and am staying at the Uof C. Should be fun!
