I'm going to get this going today because we are NOT going anywhere this weekend. Not to the cottage. Not to the beach. Not out to dinner . . . get my drift? Why? Because it is that glorious season called OPEN HOUSE SEASON and we are stuck in town doing the OH thing. Seven of them.

Other than that . . . not much going on! It's good weather and I have a couple of errands to take care of. DH is having a rough time with his RA and is finally starting meds, and has gotten some sleeping pills too so perhaps we'll BOTH get some sleep this weekend.

I would love to go see The Break Up this weekend, but I'm not sure when I'll be able to do it. Maybe Sunday night. Oh, I also have to deliver two birthday cakes to the residential home where I volunteer - someone is turning 16, and someone else is turning 18!

Good Morning,

Once again we started our Morning with running around the neighborhood looking for our dog. I know for sure that the front gate was closed when I let her out earlier but I heard our upstairs neighbors leaving and they must have left the gate open, AGAIN  Normally we find her in the yard next door, playing with the neighbors kids but today we found her 5 blocks away  We told our upstairs neighbors about a hundred times now, that they should please close the gate but they just keep ignoring it.

Anyhow, we'll get ready to go downtown in a bit. The Institute of Culinary Art has Open House today and DH had the idea to check it out. Afterwards we'll have Lunch and then check out the book fair. And by the time we'll be done with everything, DH will have to go to work :(

I hope everyone is having a great Saturday!

Hi Debie and Dani!

Not much going on here... crummy weather. :( I'll actually be getting some schoolwork together for next year (yes, next year) since my team teacher is leaving and a 1st grade colleague will be joining me on 5th grade. Anyway, nothing glamorous or even fun, so I'll live vicariously through you all!! I am looking forward to a great weekend in the Adirondacks NEXT weekend, though!

Dani- sorry about your dufus neighbors. How ignorant. Glad you have your pup back. Have fun at the culinary institute- sounds neat.

Debi- sounds like you'll be busy. If you do see "The Break Up" you know you have to keep us posted, right? :)

Have a great one everyone!!

Hi, Debie, Dani and Andrea --

Well, today is exercise, out to lunch with friends to plan dinner with the same friends for tonight  , then to an art show on the lake, where I will try not to buy anything (yeah, right!). Then home until dinner... DH is meeting a friend to go to a pattern contest for model airplanes, then he and the friend will be home, building airplanes until I make them go out to dinner. They'll spend the rest of the evening -- really the whole rest of the weekend -- in the downstairs workshop, building!

Sunday church, then play with the dogs in the lake, if it's still warm enough to swim!

Two new books from the library, so I'll be busy...

well, stalling going in to work this morning :o

DH and his parents are coming today. DS has a double header tomorrow at a college about 2 hrs east and we are leaving at 7 am tomorrow  .
Monday is his graduation. Also my parents are coming Sunday so it will be a full house! DS finally wrote his speech and I read it yesterday. I think it needs some work, but the VP and his English teacher both gave him the OK. And my summer class starts Monday. Yeesh. I wish I could just sleep all day today to get ready for next week!

Have fun you guys. :)

Good morning ladies. :)

This morning, DS tested for his red belt/black stripe. He did well and is now one step away from being a black belt. It's been four years since he started Taekwondo and it's fun to see how far he's come (he's 12 now and started at 8). Only now that we're moving, we're not sure what kind of TKD schools they have and how they'll handle moving him into a new TDK school.

This after noon we are having a friend or two over for DS's birthday celebration. I attempted a homemade cake from scratch - something I rarely have luck with - and am crossing my fingers that it works okay. So far so good - just some touch-ups on the icing.

After that I think we're done for the weekend, except for the usual household chores.

Debie - Wow, 7 open houses. Have fun, um, fun.

Dani - That sounds like a frustrating situation with your neighbors!

Andrea - What a dedicated teacher. :) One of our 5th grade teachers - who happens to be on the short side - started teaching first grade this year. I asked her if she felt like a giant now! ;) I hope she's prepared for the differences between 1st and 5th - yikes!

Kay - Have fun with all your lunching and dining.

Suzy (did I spell that right? I get the Sue/Susie/Susan's confused. :o ) - Good luck and congratulations to your son!

I gotta squeeze in a walk with the dog. Chuck is taking Bailey back with him to PA tomorrow. While I'm happy that Chuck will have some furry company in his lonely house, I'm going to miss Bailey something awful! :(

Hi all!

It's a rainy Saturday here. It's supposed to be the annual neighborhood yard sale but few families are participating this year- not sure if it's due to weather or lack of anything to sell! I know we didn't have enough stuff to make it worthwhile, so we just made a donation to the volunteer fire dept. (it's a fundraiser for them). I went and walked around and found a few toys that will be good for DS in a few months but not much else. Last year I found a ton of new-with-tags baby clothes for $1 an item, but no such scores this year.

DH just left on a weeklong business trip, and DS is getting over an ear infection and kind-of napping at the moment. I have some work to catch up on this weekend so when DS is sleeping, that's what I'll be doing! I'd hoped for a little sun so I could do some yard work but it's too wet outside right now.

Alysha, I'm sure you'll miss Bailey a bunch! And I'm sure the cake will be delicious.

Dani, how scary that your dog keeps getting out- I wonder if it's possible to add one of those auto-close springs to your gate? We had one on the back gate at our house when we were kids, b/c my sister and I always left it open and the dog got out. :o

Debie, I'm slow today- is your DH a realtor?

Or - Open Houses = Graduation Party???

Or at least that's what's going on around here. :)

Our OH season for realtors was in April. Now we're onto graduations. :)

Thanks... not as much dedication as not wanting to take away any of my precious summer vacation! I'm already teaching summer school, so if I can get it out of the way now, great. Funny about the teacher at your school- I'm only 5'1" and my friend coming from 1st grade is about 4'10", so she's a bit worried about being towered over!

So I just came back from the Open House at the Illinois Institute of Culinary Arts and I'll be going back on Tuesday.... for my admission interview :D DH and I spent a lot of time talking about my future lately and to be honest, I am only 24 years old and I don't wanna be "done" with my education.

Stephanie, I love the idea of getting an auto-close spring for the gate but I'll try it with a big nice sign first. And I had a chance today, to talk to the guys from the Upstairs and I asked them again, to keep the Gate closed all the time. I also mentioned that if something will happen to my dog because of them leaving the gate open all the time, I'll make sure the Vet will send the bill to their adress

We haven't even had time to check out the Book Fair today, so maybe I'll go there alone tomorrow. DH has to work all day long anyways.

Oh man, what a day! Car went into the shop this morning to deal with yet another recall (2nd one since I bought it) then up to New Hampshire in a monsoon to see some people about windows and doors for the kitchen/mudroom reno which starts MONDAY!  DH is in Saudi for 3 weeks so I'm left to wade through the options and finish the window and door order by myself as well as dump out the kitchen and set up a temporary one for the next 6 weeks (at least) in the basement. Step-son and friends are coming over tomorrow to move the fridge, stove etc downstairs for me. Monday night when I get home from work my old kitchen ought to be gone and I ought to be on my way down the slippery slope into construction he!! :D Woo Hoo!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!
