Back in February I was involved in an accident...... a car came through the wall of a building and hit me.... "Close Call" (http://community.cookinglight.com/showthread.php?t=86469&highlight=close+call)

Well.....some new information came to light. The young lady that was driving the vehicle belongs to a group that have an interesting form of entertainment. They drive as fast as they can towards a wall and see who can stop the closest to the building. That's what she was doing when she hit me! I am so angry that I can't see straight!! I took the whole thing to be mechanical error......I even had sympathy for her. Now I want to wring her neck!

I have a call into the police to get more information on the file.....see if any charges were laid, etc. I'm still having problems from the accident.....my neck and back are still bothering me.....my blood pressure is still out of whack ---- my medication has been changed and adjusted at least six times. Not to forget the anxiety....... it took me a while to get that under control and I'm feeling it start to get out of hand again.

You know, it's the first time since this whole accident that I've seriously considered getting a lawyer. I have to try and chill......the stress isn't good for me.

Get a lawyer! That is beyond reprehensible! How dare someone take other people's lives into their own hands to play some game! OMG, I am fuming just thinking about it. How old was the girl? Not only does she need to learn a lesson but you need to make sure that you are well cared for medically and for any long term effects. Good luck and please continue to update us.

Oh my. I'd be furious too.

No words of advice - just a little cyber support.

Take care,

Oh my gosh! I can't believe the things people will do to get a thrill and how easily they can dismiss not only their own danger but the danger they impose on others. Your outrage is absolutley appropriate.

If you don't know if charges have been filed (I would assume they should and would be under those circumstances) and there hasn't been a legal action, how did you find out about this? Was there another similar incident? Do they do this sober or under the influence? I can't really imagine anyone doing something like that without the influence of something.

You are right that you need to deal with the anxiety. I suspect that if you can relax and regain your sense of being right with the world, your blood pressure is bound to improve and I think your neck and back will too. I think neck and back injuries are especially bad about making you tense and the tension then making the injuries worse. It can be a difficult cycle to break. Your mental state is important in doing that. You have to take charge, let go of the stuff that needs to be let go and take care of the stuff that needs taking care of. Not necessarily simple, but something to work on.

If you don't know if charges have been filed (I would assume they should and would be under those circumstances) and there hasn't been a legal action, how did you find out about this?

That was my question, too. You'd have to have a completely unimpeachable source to fight this legally on the grounds that she was doing it for entertainment. All she'd have to say is some version of "I do not belong to such a group" and it would be a classic she said/she said.

However, if it's true, I completely understand your anger.

I think my anger and frustration is coming out here...... I know that actually proving any of this is almost impossible. It just makes me so angry at how some people will put others in danger for their entertainment. What if I had my kids with me? What if that little girl that was sitting on the floor only minutes before didn't move? I'm glad it was only me hurt....and nothing life threatning. It could have been so much worse. And it makes me angry that I'm getting anxiety from this again.....I was finally letting this go and dealing with getting myself better. Since posting my first "rant" post this morning, I'm actually feeling a bit better. You guys are the best shrinks! :D

We heard about all this from someone who knows the young lady. He knows that it is something that her and her friends do. Now, I have since spoken with the police. He has taken statements from her and witnesses (her friends). He says that the witnesses claim she did drive into the parking spot beside them and that she wasn't going really fast.....but maybe too fast for parking. Upon inspection of the vehicle, they found that her vehicle had "no braking power". She was charged with "failure to maintain a vehicle". There is no proof of these "games" they play.......just heresay.

I'm going to hold off on any drastic action...... Her insurance is paying for my treatments, etc. I hope to get better.......just takes time I guess.

Thanks for letting me rant! ;)

You know, with two boys who both have a lot of friends, some of whom are incredible story tellers, and in light of the evidence that there was no braking power in the car, I would take what you hear with a grain of salt. Could be true, but could be true that others get their kicks making up stories.

Venting is great therapy. Hope you keep feeling better.

Something like that is almost unfathomable to think of, but I'm sure there are people that do things like that on purpose. I hope that wasn't the case...what a horrible thing to do. Why would you drive into a crowded bookstore? Why not an empty, abandoned warehouse.

Lisa, I'll bet that girl's insurance company would LOVE an anonymous phone call suggesting what the police know now. That girl would get slapped with a lawsuit so fast her head would spin. I'd turn her butt in.
