Bwahahahah!!! I love it! :D
Definitely not safe for work or with your kids handing over your shoulder though. Don't want to have to explain that!

the Cyrhillic alphabet was my downfall when i studied Russian. but they're very, very savvy by now, and our names probably seem just as silly to them. moreover, i'd bet dollars to donuts that we all now have a data-miner barnacle watching our every move. (memo to self---> run AdAware tom'w; we're overdue)

Aubergine, are you in a bad mood, tonight? FWIW I ran the scan tonight...why wait until tomorrow? I am completely protected and there is no malicious program watching my every move.

send 'em on, if that's what floats your boat.
perhaps feeling a bit cranky, but i've always, my entire life, since i was small, voiced my opinion--and have typically had to face small-minded persons, so this is not new.

If you go to the link and enter your name and click the button, you will see why...

Um, if you actually clicked on the link, you'd see that it's not making fun of the Russian language or the Russian people.
And where does "small-minded" come in here? I can think of a few other words to describe those of us who found this link humorous, but small-minded isn't what comes to mind. ;)

Well what's even funnier is that when you type in your name and hit submit, what comes up is something GERMAN, not Russian. It's a JOKE people, and has nothing to do with Russia, being Russian, or the Russian language. It's a RUSE to get you into the site. Don't everyone get their undies in a bunch (the guy on the site didn't! :D :D ).

It's really funny - and the front page is actually in Russian (but it just says to type name in the space).
OH and I am Russian, and I'm definately not insulted. In fact, I'm sending it to all my other Russian friends.

lindrusso--and we've rarely disagreed, to the best of my recollection. i am thankful that at least 2 other persons got my drift.
just read the title of the thread. is that not humor at the expense of another culture?
listen, i'm no prude, nor am i enthused about all of this "PC'" stuff nowadays. if your Russian friends (and those here) are okay with it, so be it. i don't have an agenda, per se, nor a particular axe to grind on this. it's just that something about it bugged me, and beyond that; it smacks of mocking another culture; i grew up in the 50's with it in my neighborhood, always puzzled--and still am--as well as dismayed, to see that happen.
i took a chance and watched "Lucky Louie" on HBO last night, a show "guaranteed to alienate even HBO viewers," as the Phil Inq. described it. i can't remember the last time i laughed that hard...wait...maybe Geo Carlin's last HBO special before he went back out and got really, sadly, almost too very, cynical in the newest one (although i do share much of his cynicism).
frankly, what i don't get now is that we (all) can't 'agree to disagree.'
<sigh> maybe it's an age thing, i dunno...
i guess i'll have to go take another look-see. things DO look very different 72 hours later (hence, the legal threshhold for a contract voidance...)

ETA: since my ISP, firewall, Avast, and all other puter precautions won't let me view it (the result) i feel confident deducing that, 1. not a place i need to go; 2. naive to think that anyone who goes there isn't picking up data-miners, or worse.

I haven't clicked on the link; like you, I'm wary of data miner sites. Still, I did find the title of the thread a little humorous because my last name, in Russian, means "place of mosquitos." And yes, I find that funny. :D

I showed the site to one of my work friends today. She got the giggles b/c just the other day she found out that the origin of a co-workers (a guy) last name is Russian and means "love of man" Extra funny probably on that site. :D

I have this sinking feeling my daughter's probably seen it a half dozen times. What a riot that was...
