I was very excited to receive my July issue, but noticed the 30 minutes or less column is missing. I noticed that it may be replaced with the column Dinner Tonight. However, there are many less recipes in this format and more pictures. Anyone else have any thoughts?

I haven't seen the July issue yet but I'm disappointed already because I love the "30 Minutes" section - I always flip to it first.

I have to agree! I always made the most recipes from the 30 minutes or less section, and I'm not crazy about the dinner tonight section....

I seem to recall someone else mentioning that the "30 minutes" section has been replaced by the "Dinner Tonight" section. I may have been mentioned on one of the reviews of the CL weekend. I actually kind of like the new section as it suggests a side dish, too!

I agree w/ Ralph. I LOVE the side dish ideas (the "mini" recipes).

BTW, speaking of those "mini" recipes, they are not listed in the index in the back of the magazine. I asked about that when we were in B'ham. (I had just made myself crazy looking for the cheddar mashed potato recipe that I knew I had seen somewhere!!!)

Anyway, we were told that those recipes were not listed in the index because there was no nutritional information provided.

So, my advice is, note those recipes yourself on your index to save yourself some possible frustration later!!! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

I also love the Dinner Tonight section partly because the entrees are easy and also have the sides. I have made the Port Medallions with Caper and Olive Sauce a few times now. My family loves this dish and it is not only quick but would make a nice company meal. I also made the accompanied side dish which is angel hair pasta with garlic and fresh basil. Yumm. As Lynn has stated the sides are not part of the index and don't have nutritional info, but if you have Mastercook it will do that for you. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

Just to add to Mamasue's comments, I have not made every pork dish in the dinner tonight from last month except the Pork Medallions with Capers and Olives. Every one of them was a solid winner. We had the Pork Tacos (aka fajitas) tonight and they were wonderful. I snatched the leftovers off the table before DH could pick them down to nothing and vac-pac'd them in my new FoodSaver to take on vacation in a couple of weeks. I wish every month's quick and easy recipes were as great as these were.

I have to put in my plug for the Dinner Tonight section over the 30 minutes Or Less section as well. I love that they not only have menus but timelines to help you get the dinner on the table quick. I believe the editorial page in the June issue noted the switch (or possibly May) and said that, while some of the recipes take a little longer than 30 minutes, the goal is still to create delicious meals you can make on a week night.
