I just saw a post from Emilycat asking why we're not joining in on the Healthy Living Board, and I thought it was a good question! When I first joined, I would check both boards everyday. But it seems like most everyone just plays on this board, even with healthy living topics, so I don't bother even checking the other one most of the time. So what gives, you guys? Why do you think we're ignoring Healthy Living? I think, for me, I believe I'll get more responses from something I post here.

I freuqent both boards. This board definitely gets more traffic, but I still really like the Healthy Living board too. It would be great to get some more people over there. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

I'm a lurker on the Healthy Living Board. One of these days I'm going to jump in, however! I like to get motivated over there. I started going to the gym again in February thanks to reading the HLSG. It's a great board, and I highly recommend it.

Another HL poster here. I really enjoy that board. It helps keep me motivated to discuss progress or lack thereof with others who are as interested in fitness (and many are much MORE interested) as I am. It's a friendly, diverse group! After all the food talking that goes on here, I really need the Healthy Living board!! I also like my posting my health-realted questions there because it doesn't get lost in the crowd.

I enjoy both boards for completely different reasons. I am currently trying to make a lifestyle change by eating better and exercising and the support I receive over at the Healthy Living Board is great. On the other hand I really enjoy cooking and the topics and reviews here are wonderful. Both boards are great in their own way and I also don't think that the HLB topics should overflow into the Great Food one. Two totally different areas IMO.

Both please! I agree that they both serve different purposes...the HL board is supporting me through a very difficult lifestyle change. The Good Food board is fun! It's helping me expand my cooking horizons and remember that eating wholesome, healthy food never has to be boring.

I find that I get plenty of responses to exercise-related posts on the Healthy Living board. I agree with what some others have said in this thread; my posts don't get buried on that board because it is less active. (posting-wise, of course! We're all trying to be more active, exercise-wise, on the Healthy Living board! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/wink.gif )
Y'all who don't visit the HL board for inspiration and support with your fitness goals are missing out! I find tremendous motivation from the other posters on the board, & am always so proud when I can say something good about how my week went. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif

I've never even been to the healthy living board - it's just a topic that doesn't do anything for me. I don't even read that part of the magazine. I love eating healthy, but other people's exercising or taking care of themselves usually doesn't help me. Figuring out why my pizza crust is soggy - that does help!

I always check the HL board, and I've also been wondering why it doesn't get more traffic. Maybe a lot of people think it's only about exercise. There is a great thread on there right now about finding meaning in life, with a commencement address given by Anna Quindlen which I had to print out.

Hmmm...I frequent Healthy Living quite a bit. The topics are different- the focus is on fitness, exercise, support in weight loss; there is also a book club, a runner's support group, a group of yoga enthusiasts, a currently pregnant or trying to conceive support group, as well as the same sort of wonderful tangential discussions that are found on Great Food: favorite dog names, major life decisions, recommended sunscreen just to name a few!
I am glad there are two separate boards, as the discussions are different- the traffic is so heavy on Great Food that messages tend to get lost- it would really get clogged up if Healthy Living questions were posted in the mix. IMHO, HL is most appropriate for non-cooking/food-prep related issues (but not necessarily non-food, as we talk a lot about our favorite healthy foods!) and the response rate is great.
If you don't visit HL, please come over and see what's up!
