Gee, I can't believe I'm starting the klatch. I know I haven't been around, but it's been busy at work learning the ropes and all.

We've got another busy weekend. Ginger's got a game at 8pm tonight, a tournament tomorrow. Then both girls have to be at dress rehersal for their dance recital. I'm not sure how long that will take, or if Ginger will have to miss a game. At least they both dance early in the recital and we can leave as soon as Ginger's done her performance for the rehersal. Sunday we've got breakfast in bed wtih daddy and the actual recital. Then MIL/FIL are thinking of coming up after the recital. My dad will be attending, but MIL/FIL just can't make it to Marietta by 2pm.

Wish Ginger luck, they just didn't seem to hit anything at all in the tournament last weekend. I think they could really use a win to help with team morale.

How is everyone else doing?

Good Morning,

What kinda tournament does Ginger have? I'll keep my fingers crossed for her team.

We have another unexciting weekend ahead. DH has to work most of the time and I have not a lot planed. Tonight I'll clean the house, so I don't have to do it on the weekend (and there is also laundry waiting for me  ) It looks like our new kitty makes more mess than our two other furry kids together. Last night we caught him tearing up a bag of Potato Chips in the Pantry - it took me quite a while to clean up that mess

I'll probably make another patch of Jam tomorrow while Hubby is at work. I still have some rhubarb left and if Costco has some nice Strawberries today, I'll just make more rhubarb/strawberry jam.

I hope to hear something from the Illinois Institut of Art about my Admission today. They kinda torture me for a couple of days now - every day they come up with something new they need for my Admission. I really wonder why it's so hard to get into school here

Other than that, there is nothing exciting going on in my life ;)

Hi Leigh and Dani

Leigh - have a nice weekend! Good luck to Ginger in her tournament. It's good to see you around on the boards again!

Dani - good luck with our application!

Well, today is the first day of summer vacation. Today a friend from out of state is coming to visit with her kids. They're swinging by here on their way to her dad's house. She's never met Samantha, so I'm anxious to see her again.

Tonight Jerry and I are going out for an early bday dinner for him. His bday is Monday, but he's headed to Atlanta that day. Sunday we're having a big dinner here for Father's Day and the 3 bdays in the family this weekend.

Hope everyone has a nice weekend!

Good morning everyone!

Leigh - good to see you! It's been ages since we heard from you. It sounds like everything's the same. Do you like your job?

Dani - good luck with your application. I take it you haven't heard about DH's fireman's test yet?

Sue - Jerry must have a zillion airline miles stored up for you to take some great vacations in the future! Andy used to work nights (and I know it's not the same as Jerry's being gone) but when he finally got a day job after about 15 years together, I was so used to being alone or with Erin in the evenings and being able to do whatever I wanted, that I wasn't sure how I would feel having him around every night! It worked itself out and I didn't kill him :) and now I'm used to it.

We have a very busy weekend for a change. We almost never have social plans, but tonight I have a party at my friend's house after work and then we are both invited to a benefit which is unfortunately for a good friend's 12-year old nephew who has bone cancer. So I'll leave the first party in enough time to get back and go to the second one with Andy.

Tomorrow the HS band has some veterans' parade to march in so Erin'll be gone all afternoon then she's babysitting at night. Also at night is my best friend's daughter's HS graduation party so I'll be there. Andy may or may not come. Even though she's my best friend, he doesn't really know her daughter as much as her younger ones that are Erin's age.

Then he has to work on Sunday for Father's Day and I imagine Erin will be studying since she has finals next week.

Next week on Monday I am taking the first of 2 Photoshop classes, Tues I'm seeing an old friend after work for dinner, Wed Erin and I are going to the Red Sox, Thurs Erin has an orthodontist appointment and maybe on Friday I can breathe!! :)

Tyroleandcutie,
Ginger plays slowpitch softball in an 8U league, but she's on an all-star team this summer.

I'm sure you'll get some good news about school soon!

Loren,
Thanks. I've missed the boards, and I should have some time to visit them again occassionally. It seemed like I had less time on the boards when I wasn't working full time. It's been an adjustment getting back to work full time. Juggling dance & softball has made it harder. At least dance will be all done after this weekend.

Gee whiz, I think I have a relaxing weekend compared to you. :D The biggest problem is not knowing our possible game times since we MUST be at dress rehersal tomorrow afternoon.

Sue,
Wow, school's been out here for 3 weeks. Enjoy your dinner out with Jerry!

I'm home now. Ginger's tummy was bothering her early this morning. She said she was feeling better before it was time to leave the house so I took her to summer camp. She called about 9am so I picked her up. She was supposed to go on a field trip today to the MLK Jr. Center, but I didn't want her to go if she wasn't feeling better. She's not running fever & her throat looks normal so I'm pretty confidant I can rule out strep. I'm thinking she might be just worn out with the late nights (because of practice) and late dinners. She's had issues with eating too soon before going to bed.

At least the game isn't until 8pm so she's got plenty of time to rest today.

Hi guys!

It's been a long time for me on the klatch as well. The last weeks of school I worked a lot - Our last day was last Thursday!! The boys are loving life!!

Pretty quiet weekend for us - thank goodness. We just finished up Jack's baseball tournament - I was in charge of the concession stands and ended up working there a lot!! We'll be pool bound and my mom and dad will visit with us on Father's Day..

*** BTW Sue - we'll be in town over the pre 4th of July weekend. I'll email you to see what your plans are!! Enjoy Jerry's b'day dinner tonight!****

Leigh - I missed that you went full time - is it library related? Good luck Ginger!!!! These tournaments can be crazy - Do you have back to back games if you win??

Loren - loved your Disney pictures!! You do sound like you have a busy weekend. Will Erin have any more parades this summer that she is marching in?

tyroleancutie - good luck with your application!!!!

lhall - have a great time at the tournament/recital! i'm sure they'll make you proud :)

tyroleancutie - good luck with your application - i know how frustrating it can be to get into art school, but don't stress it - you'll end up finding the best thing for you, and you'll do great!

SueK - it's kinda cool that you can celebrate so many things at once! it sounds like it'll be a good time :)

Gracie - how wonderful that you're going to a benefit. it's sad how many people have such close relationships with people who suffer from various illnesses, but hopefully a cure will be in sight soon.

i have a busy weekend coming up! a coworker that i carpool with asked if i wanted to go to the beach when we get out today (at noon), so i'm SUPER excited! i looooove getting some fresh air, and relaxing! and the weather is absolutely WONDERFUL today!

tomorrow, i'm going to try out this restaurant/tea house in NYC called "alice's tea cup". i'm a fan of most things involving alice in wonderland, and it should be a fun experience. they have a HUGE tea list, and lots of great sounding food, too! then i'm going to see nine inch nails perform at jones beach. yay!!

sunday, we're taking DF's parents to see the new jack black movie (nacho libre) for father's day. usually i cook, but his mother has invited unexpected guests the last 2 mother's/father's days (LAST MINUTE!!) and i'm not going to stress about not having enough food again. we decided that a movie would be better, and if other people want to come, they can buy their own tickets

Leigh,
Nice to "see" you and best of luck to Ginger at the tournament and both girls for the recital...what's the term you use to wish a dancer luck? (I know it's not the same as an actor).

Dani,
Good luck to you also! No word on the FD job for DH yet?

Sue,
My DH's birthday is Monday also and with Father's Day the day before we will celebrate on Sunday...most resaurants aren't open on Mondays around here.

It will be a fairly quiet weekend for us which is good because the week gets a bit hectic trying to get everything in order for the restaurant...the more they do the more we find that has to be done...it's a b!tch trying to renovate a 100+ year old building! ;)

DS#2 has 2 rodeos this weekend (he's a bullfighter, aka rodeo clown) so he'll be gone Saturday and Sunday. Sure wish I knew where he ever got this urge to rodeo!

Wow Susan. How long has he been doing this? Do you have to do courses/test to become a rodeo clown .. safety courses I'm thinking.

Well I know it's summer at our house when I have all of the neighbor boys crowded around our computer. I'm kicking them off and taking them to the pool this afternoon. At least everyone will be out of my pantry!!!

Quiet around here today :)

Tyra if you check in - I just read about your job situation. Best of luck!!

Charisse,
He has been going to school for this for over 4 years. At least it's better than when he was riding the d@mn things! He has all kinds of safety gear that he wears. He also had years of gymnastics so he's pretty good at theatrics. And he's pretty quick on his feet. He has his heart set on getting into the Pro circuit.

I'm here! It is the first day of summer vacation and I wasn't terribly motivated to get out of bed and on the computer.

Not much happening around here this weekend. Alex had promotion last night so I'm now officially the mother of two boys in HS. HS graduation is tonight so I think Michael might go and cheer on some friends.

The date went very well last week...matter of fact I saw him on Tuesday and will be seeing him this weekend as well :) Shame he lives 1 1/2 hours away...but Tuesday felt like a vacation day since I went down to see him in the Monterey area.

Job search is going slowly...but I knew that since I hadn't had any nibbles for the past 2 months. I need to start looking/applying for the contract positions as well. Fortunately, I have about 4/5 months living expenses saved...but I would hate to use it up.

Unfortunatley we haven't heard anything from the Fire Department yet - but we heard rumours that it can take up to 4 months till we hear something

(And I am not trying to get into Art School - I am trying to get into Culinary School ;) The Culinary School is just a part of the Art Institute. )

Looks like everyone is having a great weekend ahead. That's wonderful!

Charisse,
Yes, it's library related. I'm systems librarian at a local 2 year college, and I started on April 1st.

I don't know if we have back to back games or not. All I know is the first game is 8pm tonight. The association hosting the event hasn't/isn't going to post the brackets. I'm sure we'll know more after tonight.

Sneezles,
What kind of resturant? I've seen some of the pictures the few times I've been on the BB.

Ginger's chillling out now, but at least she's feeling better.

Leigh,
It will be a b-b-q/steak restaurant though it will have other types of dishes too. Last night we had our first full discussion about the menu...it's going to be a long hard road to hoe! One partner wants to just open cans and defrost stuff from Sysco, another wants to cut the menu way back while DH and I lean more towards a full menu with items made as close to scratch as possible. I don't think I can participate in too many more of those discussions...I'll just stick to the bakery where I don't need to be limited to a menu...

Susan - I would think that either you and your DH are right or the partner that wants a limited menu (as long as it is all fresh/close to scratch as possible). Good luck with the negotations!

Charisse - thankfully Erin's done marching after tomorrow until Band Camp which is more like Boot Camp in mid-August. Those uniforms will be very hot tomorrow since it's supposed to be in the high 80s.

SheRa - you have a fun weekend planned! All those plans make my weekend seem like I'm spending it on the couch! :)

Susan - I'd be so worried if a child of mine participated in rodeos. They seem so dangerous. As I read that, I thought about how I've never been to a rodeo in my life - just what I've seen on TV. It's so funny sometimes that we all live in the same country and do such different things. Do you have an opening date for the restaurant?

Tyra - that's so cool that you've met someone that you like! Can you tell us a bit about him? Did you meet him online?

We just had our weekly workout here at work with our personal trainer. It's really hot here and we are very thankful for air conditioning. I'm going to be taking a shower at my friend's house (the first party I'm going to tonight) so I'll be ready for the evening.

Y'all sure do have busy/exciting weekends planned! We are just going to veg this weekend... maybe DH will go flying his model airplanes, but not much else going on! I'm going to marinate in the lake, and hit tennis balls for the 'boys' to chase... maybe read a little (or a lot!). Oh, and the ironing is always there, in case it rains!

Hopefully, there will be no emergency calls this weekend. Living in a lake/weekend-use area is great, but people tend to leave good sense at home when vacationing here. We have had people come here the day after surgery to recover at the lake, and have complications... our little hospital is not equipped for this, and they end up being shipped off to bigger hospitals! Anyway, between boating accidents, fires and drunks, we (the fire department) can be kept way too busy on the weekends! (off soap box... sorry! :o )

Loren - I met him online (JDate). He is a year older then me, divorced, two daughters that live with their mom in WA state. Works for the federal government as a meterologist. Nice guy...must like me a lot since he calls me almost daily. :)

Its been so long since I've been excited about somebody as opposed to just thinking "I've got a date".

I hear you about boot camp for the band. Football camp for the varsity team is from 10:30 - 1:30 and it looks like it might be a HOT summer (today it is supposed to be in the 90's).

Tyra,
Unfortunately the one who wants the limited menu wants to open cans and defrost the stuff...she really doesn't enjoy cooking she just happens to be married to the other partner.

Loren,
I use to lay awake at night when he was riding bulls but it's much easier ;) now that he's on the ground so to speak. I've been to rodeos and enjoy all but the bullriding even before DS#2 decided to persue this dream. right now he does mostly college and high school rodeos so it's a bit tamer than the pro circuit.

As far as the opening date...we are working on Fayetteville time here and the slab that was suppose to poured 2 weeks ago was just poured yesterday. I'm guessing the end of Sept.

This week they were jackhammering some old concrete inside the building so I couldn't work on the back bar but I will be back at it come Monday.

Susan,
I'd have to agree with the 'as close to scratch as possible" idea. If you can't manage a full menu that way, then start with the limited menu.

Tyra,
Yes, that is rather late. I just hope they don't have a game at 11 or 12 tomorrow. We definately can't make that because of the dress rehersal. Unfortunately when you have 8+ teams and only one full day for a tournament that's what happens.

Enjoy your date!

Happy Friday all! I had a great day. Cindyweightwatcher and I went to a day spa for facials and massages. It was very decadent! :D We then had lunch outdoors and did a little shopping at the outlet mall nearby. Fun day!

Not much on the agenda this weekend. DS#2 has a Bat Mitzvah tomorrow and then DH's family is getting together for brunch on Sunday.

Tyra - good to hear that the date from last weekend is working out. ;)
