Anybody here have any experience with traveller's medical insurance?

As one of you here knows, I am thinking of moving to Vancouver for six months next year. :D

I am in the process of looking into purchasing traveller's medical insurance to cover me while I am out of the U.S. I'm confused by the internet information I have been able to pull up, and I was wondering if anybody here has ever purchased traveller's medical insurance or if anybody can share any information with me about reputable companies that offer it or forums where I could ask questions and receive information.

Any help would be appreciated.

Have you contacted your current insurance company to find out what they cover while you are out of the country?

I have looked into foreign policies for my DD as she will be spending 4 months in France. The coverage I looked at was about $120 a month, but this was for student insurance.
