I have been making Texmati Basmati Rice for years. I always measure 1 cup rice, 1 3/4 cups water and 1/2 tsp. salt. This has always made perfect, delicious rice.

I recently decided to be adventurous and try the Jasmine (Jasmati) Rice which was the same brand (Rice Select). Anyway, the instructions called for 2 cups of water to 1 cup of rice. I tried this, and the result was much wetter and mushier with fatter grains. Does anyone here know if the rice would turn out okay if I reduced the water by 1/4 cup?

Also, I saw another long-grain rice called "Kasmati" at the store. Has anyone tried it?

I have used all the different types of Texmati rice and cooked them all the same way but I use a rice cooker. The ratio is 1:1 in my cooker and I add no salt , butter or oil. Long grains are all pretty much the same it's just that these are aromatic rices. Try coing it the same as you do the basmati.
