I have been making Texmati Basmati Rice for years. I always measure 1 cup rice, 1 3/4 cups water and 1/2 tsp. salt. This has always made perfect, delicious rice.
I recently decided to be adventurous and try the Jasmine (Jasmati) Rice which was the same brand (Rice Select). Anyway, the instructions called for 2 cups of water to 1 cup of rice. I tried this, and the result was much wetter and mushier with fatter grains. Does anyone here know if the rice would turn out okay if I reduced the water by 1/4 cup?
Also, I saw another long-grain rice called "Kasmati" at the store. Has anyone tried it?
