Okay I've got a pantry full of Lipton Ice Tea bags and I'd like to make something other then plain old ice tea. Do you have any neat flavorings that you use or recipes that I can welcome a nice change to for the summer? THanks!

Hi, I started a thread last week or so, and I posted 3 really good recipes. I will try to find it and bump it up

Funny I had a feeling that I saw one a while ago for it, I'm looking forward to it, Thanks!

Cooks Country did an article on sweet tea, I have only done their method for plain tea and now it is the only way I make tea. It was not bitter like sometimes my ice tea would turn out to be. This method is quicker than my old method too. :)

Here are some of their suggestions:

Sweet Ice Tea

10 tea bags
4 cups water, at room temp
2 cups juice
6-9 tablespoons Simple Syrup (see below)

Submerge tea bags in water in serving pitcher. Steep for 45 minutes. Remove and discard tea bags.

Stir in juice and Simple Syrup (adjust amount depending on desired sweetness) into tea. Serve over ice.

Cherry Lime Rickey Ice Tea:
Make Sweet Tea with 2 cups of cherry juice and use Lime Syrup

Apple Pie Iced Tea:
Make Sweet Tea with 2 cups of apple juice and Cinnamon Syrup

Nantucket Iced Tea:
Make Sweet Tea with 2 cups cranberry juice and Lime Syrup

Orangeade Iced Tea
Make Sweet Tea with 2 cups lemonade and Orange Syrup

Raz-Ma-Tazz Iced Tea
Make Sweet Tea with 2 cups cranberry-raspberry juice and Lemon Syrup

Simple Syrup:

Heat one cup of sugar, 1 cup of water and any flavorings in a small saucepan over med-high heat until sugar completely dissolves. Cool to room temp. Discard zest, cinnamon sticks, if using. Can be refrigerated for 1 week.

(when I make plain syrup, I just microwave it for a couple of minutes)

Simple Syrup Ideas:

Orange, Lemon, or Lime Syrup:
Add 1 tablespoon grated citrus to simple syrup

Cinnamon Syrup:
Add 1 cinnamon stick

I made the Nantucket Iced Tea (listed above) last year and thought it was good. I still want to try some of the others. I still made the my tea the same way though. I didn't use their method for that.

I don't like my tea very sweet at all. But, it tastes yummy with a splash of sparkling water or lemonade (as long as it's tart instead of sweet ;-) Mint or orange slices are also wonderful.

I purchased a Mr Ice Tea Maker years ago.....and cant say enough good things about it. Makes perfect ice tea everytime.

I prefer my ice tea on the natural side. My favorite is using Good Earth Tea, or Celestial Seasonings Apple Cinnamon........for great herbal tea that doesnt need added sweeteners.

You might try adding a tea bag or two of a nice herbal blueberry tea or one of the zinger teas from Celestial Seasonings. But I'm really partial to the blueberry...really, really good.

I usually add one flavored tea bag to the plain tea bags. This summer I've been on a kick with Vanilla & Almond flavored tea. One bag in the mix give the tea a little extra something, but it isn't overwhelming.

I like to do this with Celestial Seasonings Peppermint tea bags. For 2 qts. of tea, I use 2 plain family size tea bags and 1 small peppermint tea bag. Refreshing!

And yesterday I bought Lipton's new "Hint of Peach" flavored tea bags. I made some last night and think it's great! I thought the peach flavor didn't taste fake (it says the flavors are "natural") and it didn't have an herbal taste either (which I didn't want).
I just tried to find this on Lipton's website so I could post a picture of the box but I couldn't find it. Anyway, these are the family size tea bags that are made specifically for iced tea, not the small flavored tea bags for making hot tea.

That is exactly what I do. I do not like tea that has anything sweet in it but I do like the natural flavorings of other teas. Right now my favorite is to use a few black tea bags and a bag of Chai Spice tea...YUM!

Well, when I was growing up we pretty much lived at the beach during the summer. After a long day in the sun my mother would make us take a tea bath. Filled the tub with lukewarm water, as that was all our skin could take, and then put a bunch of tea bags in the tub. We soaked our poor sunburnt skin in and it was supposed to take the sting out of too much sun. It did feel good. I know that isn't what you had in mind though. ;~}

I made sun tea with mango white tea bags--mild, but very delicious!
