Our son, who works at a TJ's in Southern California, is visiting this week, and he arrived with a number of bottles of his favorite wines: (at least this college guy has finally learned to bring cool gifts when he shows up with a ton of laundry!) I thought I would share what we enjoyed with the CL "wino's":

Black Opal Shiraz 1999 $6.99
Clos du Bois Chardonnay 1999 $8.49
Rosemount Estate Shiraz Cabernet 2000 $5.99
Fetzer Eagle Peak Merlot 1999
The 'best' bottle -- the one we all *really* liked was:
Clos Pegase 'Mitsuko's Vineyard' Chardonnay
Carneros Napa Valley 1999
(don't know the $; he took the tag off this one.)
Salud!

Thanks so much, Chris! When I'm at TJ's I usually stare at the wines and don't know what to get. I'm printing this out and next time I'm at TJ's I'll have some suggestions to follow.

Wow! Great prices on great Australian wine there!

Once again, bemoaning the lack of Trader Joe's in Michigan.........

Have you tried any of the $2.99 San Andre's
Wines from Chili? They are an excellent
value. Try the Chardonay, Merlot or Carbernet! If you don't like them, you can always cook with them! Even one of my sons, who is quite knowledgeable about wines, buys them for every day!

I have to put a plug in for one of our faves:

Barefoot Cabernet

It runs around the $5 mark, and it makes a lovely red table wine.

Thank you Chris! You certainly have a thoughtful son! I love the Rosemount Estate wines. May I suggest the Black Opal Merlot Cabernet? It is great too! Curleytop, I have tried the San Andre's wines too, they are good for being so reasonable.
