Hello,
I just read the article about supper clubs in the latest edition of Cooking Light. I am very interested in joining a group in my area. I live in Reston. Please let me know how I can get involved.
Thanks,
Yamile
Hi Yamile,
We have a small group that has been going for almost a year. 3 of 6 of us live in the Herndon/Reston area.
Contact me at amyloumd03@yahoo.com if you would like more details.
Our next meeting is tentatively 7/15.

I know this was posted a few months ago, but wondering if you ever got a reply or if you'd be interested in starting a club in Reston?

If any of you are still looking for a group....
Our Northern Virginia Cooking Light Club is welcoming new members!
We like to cook together. We’ve found we learn more from each other and develop better friendships this way. Group size: 6-10 active people…
How our club works:
We meet once a month, usually a Saturday or Sunday Afternoon or Evening. Someone volunteers to host and determines the theme, picks out the recipes and establishes a cap/limit for attendance (some homes/kitchens are smaller/larger than others). An e-mail is sent out to the group & those interested in attending, RSVP.
The host buys the food/wine for the event and keeps the receipts. We cook, eat, & clean up together.
At the end of the evening we tally up the receipts and divide the total cost incurred by the host by the number in attendance (usually ends up being $15-30 per person...this includes appetizer, main dish, sides, dessert & wine). We really learn a lot cooking together & have a lot of fun. We just need a few more active members. Could this be you?
Membership / Demographics:
We have 10 people on our e-mail list…3 active members. Our current group is mainly female late twenties- late thirties. Our base is Northern Virginia (Fairfax, Centreville, Manassas)…but we are open to the entire DC Metro area. We do have one member in Germantown, MD.
Some of us are single, some are married. We don’t have any age/sex/marital status requirements in our group. You don’t have to have your own home or even have a kitchen. We have had people arrange to “host” at another’s home.
Our requirement is you simply must love to cook or want to learn, and be cooperative (willing to help prep, cook and clean up).
If interested in joining us, send an e-mail to mail4cindy@gmail.com and I'll add you to our e-mail group.
Cindy
