I saw it, and couldn't get past the abstractedness of it to fully grasp the love story. Wondering what you all thought. I am going to see it again, but will wait until it comes out on DVD, I thought I might enjoy it more, the second time around.

Any thoughts on the movie?

I saw it and really liked it. My only problem was determining what year the final scenes were in. I finally realized that the movie ends in 2008 and at that point it all made sense.

I saw it and thought it was ok. I was a little confused at the end. I just couldn't get my brain around it for some reason. I normally enjoy movies like this. Did it end in 2008 or 2006? If it was 2008 for her, then it's 2006 for him right? Just didn't make much sense at the end to me. If anybody can explain that would be great!

SPOILER ALERT!!!

Nope, they finally meet up in the same year (not sure which year it was though, I think 2008). She is upset because she thinks he's dead but sends a letter to him in the earlier year telling him not to go to her when he originally did but to wait two years and she'll be waiting for him at the mailbox so he waits but it happens immediately for her so they are now in the same year.

I enjoyed the movie as far as sappy love stories go. I'm not as into this type of movie these days (maybe I'm just feeling cynical) but it was decent. I think the actual Lake House was cool and I wish they had shown more of the inside.

Did anyone notice in the closing credits where "Lake House" was filmed?

I'll answer my own question, thanks to Google, and share it in case anyone else is curious...
"Many scenes for the romantic drama “The Lake House,” were filmed at a glass-sided house built by Warner Bros. near Maple Lake, about 15 miles southwest of Chicago."

Thanks for your replies! I'm really glad to know that I wasn't the only one who couldn't get my brain around it . I have thought about seeing it again, but will wait for the DVD. It can't be far behind.

Thanks again!

Me too... where was the bathroom??

Seriously, it was an odd movie though I think I liked it. I couldn't help thinking from the beginning "If she's 2 years ahead of him, why doesn't she just look him up in the phone book???" (Then I saw the end...)

I saw this yesterday - I really enjoyed it. And, I'm glad it ended the way it did. I particularly liked the scenes where they took the tour of Chicago "together". And, the scene when [spoiler alert]

Keanu's dad died and Sandra sent the "Life's Work" book...broke my heart!

Glad I wasn't the only one that wonder that ;)

Ugh, I thought this movie was hideous. Besides the plot-line being ridiculously far-fetched, the acting was awful and so was the directing. I saw this with 3 girlfriends and we were all disappointed. The only bright spot, IMO, was that it took place in Chicago. I kept nudging my friend and pointing out places.

I did like the tour of Chicago.
