Two years ago I planted 2 cherry trees im the yard - a Bing and a pic cherry (gotta encourage pollination). This year we finally got a handful of Bings to eat. I also managed to get enough of the pie cherries to make 2 individual pies. I picked the cherries today and we had the pies for dessert. Yummmmmmm!! It was so exciting to eat my harvest. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif I can't wait until I have enough to make a whole pie. My granny smith apple is looking promising, I might get some apple pies this fall. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

Robinc-
Congratulations! Can I come over for dessert to help you eat those pies? We have two apple trees in our yard - but no apples this year. But we did eat our first green pepper last night! It is so rewarding, isn't it?

Congratulations on your cherries!
We harvested our first eggplant last week and have lots of tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers ripening. It's such a great feeling to grow your own food!
Isn't it wonderful! I'm so envious of the fruit trees. We planted a number of them in California before we moved and they are probably bearing fruit now. However, we did get our first harvest of tomatoes since moving to TX this year (3rd time's the charm!). DH has made 2 gallons of picante sauce, I've been making salads, and I've got 2 bowls full still to go. A bounty at last!
