and...it was 2 out of 4 stars. I have to say I was a little disappointed because I LOVED this book. I was prepared for it to not be as good as the book - movies very rarely are -, but I thought it would be a bit better than it was. I will say that Anne Hathaway is adorable, Meryl Streep is, well, as Meryl as ever and that boy that play's Anne's boyfriend is yummy!!!
For fashion mavens out there...there are some amazing handbags, coats and shoes in this movie and for me...that was awesome!!!

I wonder if I'll love the movie since I didn't really like the book. It was okay, but I wish I'd gotten it from the library rather than buying it.

I find Meryl Streep fascinating, and the trailers for the movie look good. Hopefully they don't show only the best scenes...(Terri_A - 2 out of 4? :rolleyes:Uh-oh.)
DD is seeing it tonight, should be home soon actually. Looking forward to hearing how she liked it.

I read some reviews this morning and they were not very good. I have the book on my list and will definately read it before watching the movie.
Thanks for the review Terri.

I was disappointed, too. I read the book, my friend did not. At the end of the movie, I complained about Lilly not having an accident and my friend said, "Who is Lilly?". In the book, the boyfriend's name is Alex, there was no sex with another guy and Emily couldn't go to Paris because she was sick. Overall, the movie was good but just didn't follow the book enough for me.

I didn't read the book but I saw the movie last night and enjoyed it. Course, I'm a big fan of fluff, pure entertainment movies and this fit the bill. Good movie to see with girlfriends but you'll definitely leave the theatre feeling a bit underdressed and frumpy.

Ah, spoilers....Sorry, but I didn't think I was stating anything that wasn't available in critic reviews regarding the book versus the movie.

I thought that the book sucked.
Having said that, I was still thinking that I wanted to go see the movie. It looked cute. May have to wait for video now since there is no way I will get DH to go with me anyway.

I have not read the book, and I really loved the movie. Even DH loved it! Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep were great in it, and the movie itself was just a perfect bit of summer fun.

i read the book and really liked it. i'm usually not into chick flicks, but i took my FMIL to go see it yesterday. we both liked it. i knew it would be different from the book, so i tried not to get annoyed with things that were developed more in the book than in a 2 hour timespan. it was weird how some of the things were changed, but overall it was a fun thing to watch. it's also nice seeing someone ELSE have a hard time with their boss - it makes you appreciate what you have.

I haven't read the book and I liked the movie. But it was predictable. I agree the clothes and bags were great and if you're into fashion you will enjoy all of that. As far as the story goes, it's just your normal "fun" kind of movie to see on a Sunday afternoon.
