Does anyone have any low-fat / low-carb / no-oil dishes using ground turkey?

I love to use ground turkey, since I don't really eat beef. I have found that it can be substituted for ground beef in just about anything, but requires a bit more seasoning.
Some of my favorites are meatballs and sloppyjoes.
For meat balls, I take one lb of ground turkey, mix in one chopped, sauteed onion, 2 cloves of minced garlic, several dashes of oregeno, basil, salt and pepper. I mix it all together and form balls. You can either bake it in the oven at 350 for about 20 minutes, or cook them in tomato sauce in a skillet.
For sloppy joes, sautee 1 onion and 1-2 stalks of celery. Add 1 lb ground turkey and brown. Add 8 oz tomato juice, 1/2 cup broth, worcestershire sauce, ketchup-about 2-3 tablespoons, 1 tablespoon sugar, 1 tablespoon soy sauce, salt and pepper to taste and cook for about 15 minutes, serve over rolls.
Have fun!

This recipe would not be low carb because of the pita bread, but it is low fat and no oil and very Yummy! I don't remember where I got this recipe, but I know it was not from CL.
Turkey Gyros
1 lb. lean ground turkey
1/2 C. onion
2 tsp. minced garlic
3/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. dried marjoram
1/2 tsp. dried rosemary
1/8 tsp. black pepper
4 7" pita bread
Cucumber Mint sauce (to be served on top of gyros)
1 C. non-fat plain yogurt
1 C. non-fat sour cream
1 medium cucumber, seeded and chopped
1/4 tsp. dried mint
1/2 tsp. salt
dash black pepper
Mix all turkey ingredients in non stick skillet and brown. In bowl combine all Cucumber Mint sauce ingredients, stir. Spoon hot meat mixture over pita and top with sauce.

There is a fabulous recipe for turkey meat loaf in The Barefoot Contessa cookbook (terrific cookbook!). It uses 5 lb. of ground turkey. I'm not sure about the stats for fat and calories though and it does have 2 tbsp of olive oil in it. My husband hated meat loaf until we tried this recipe. I would highly recommend it! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif I would be happy to post it if you're interested.

Hi! You can use ground turkey in most of the recipes you use beef. If you want a little extra flavor you can combine ground turkey with ground pork. You can use it for burgers, meat loaf, tacos, stuffed peppers etc etc....

I just tried the recipe for Turkey gyros (see Angela's post above). It was really good! My husband looked quite skeptical when he came to the table and didn't see any greasy lamb meat (I had only told him that we were having gyros!) but upon tasting it, he pronounced it "a keeper"!
If you need a fast and easy dinner, try this one!

Turkey Gyros
Angela - I can't remember which thread where I found this recipe posted by someone else (who gave you credit)- or was it you?? - but, I must tell you that I really enjoyed these tonight. My dh is at a class tonight and once my ds went to bed I put this together in not time flat... while talking on the phone (no easy feet for me) and they were yummy! I hope to eat the leftovers for dinner tomorrow night while dh is at class again!
Thanks for sharing such an easy recipe!

Made a lot of WW dinners with ground turkey. Just make sure you are getting ground WHITE meat, not dark or any skin.:)

just made angela's turkey gyros- definately a repeater!
from the moment i came home from work to the moment i sat down to take my first bite was about 20 minutes.
i used dill in the sauce instead of mint (dont like mint in entrees), and i used extra garlic in the turkey mixture.
a great weeknight meal.
