Sandy - we must be related! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif I never have been thrilled with fruit and meat combinations either. I will eat them, and usually like them well enough, but they are definitely not my first choice if ordering from a menu. DH would love this salsa (a pineapple fiend) so I'd definitely make it for him.

Oooh, yum. I may try making that myself. I love fruit salsa with seafood; especially mango and peach ones. My favorite uses diced peaches and mango with lime juice, minced jalepeno and red onion and loads of cilantro. The last time I made it, I ended up eating it all by itself out of the bowl instead of serving it with anything. Surprise, surprise. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

Add me to the list of people with a fruit-meat combo aversion. For me, if it's sweet, it's meant for dessert. I've done some pork tenderloins with sweet sauces (like the CL apple-ginger pork tenderloin recipe), and they've been fine, but I prefer to keep my meats and fruits separate. I also have an aversion to fruits and chocolate (with the only exception being chocolate-covered cherries).

The pineapple salsa sounds like it would be great all on its own. I love pineapple!

I have paired fruit salsas more with grilled fish than other meats, but I have loved them. I generally don't like things cooked with dried fruits, but a fresh fruit salsa, especially with some mint or peppers, can be a wonderful compliment to grilled or roasted meats. I've never made one with any sugar or sweetening to it, so the flavors generally aren't that much sweeter than really fresh corn or tomatoes.

Sandy, I'm with you on this one. I don't even like sweet and sour Chinese food. I save my sweet foods for dessert! I'm taking a cooking class this week on Summer Salsas, so I guess if they have one that sounds good enough, I'll brave it and make it with meat that night!

I have this aversion to fruit-and-meat combinations. I guess pork and apples go great together. I hear raspberries and chicken make an awesome pair. I can't do it.

Our awesome cafeteria had pork tenderloin with a cracked black pepper crust on it. As a side, they served a pineapple salsa. I skipped the meat, but I asked for the side of salsa, just because I love pineapple.

Oh. My.

Diced pineapple. Bermuda onion. Fresh cilantro. Diced red pepper.

Now again, I can't imagine eating it paired with meat, but I bet some of you can.

It was so good - I just thought I'd share.
