A while back there was a thread on women's nutritional bars, and the kashi go lean bars were mentioned by one BB'er. I ordered a sampler box of the bars and am back to report that, well, I disliked them so much that of the 5 flavors I've tried, I've only actually finished one bar.
So far I've tried Vanilla Spice Cake, Malted Chocolate Crisp, Honey Vanilla Yogurt, Strawberry Vanilla Yogurt, and Chocolate Peanut Butter. I found these bars to be too dense and chewy for my taste, and the flavors seem very off and artificial. Every bar has a yogurt-y or chocolate-y coating around a dense, non-descript filling. The malted chocolate crisp flavor stood out to me as genuinely bad; the others were just not good.
The bars do have a great amount of fiber... 7g. They're 280 calories each, but the one I finished was *very* filling. I was really disappointed by the nutritional content, though. Zero vitamin A, C, E; tiny amounts of B vitamins, tiny amounts of calcium and iron (all less than 5% of the RDA).
I remember that someone on the previous thread really liked these bars... so no offense to that person; I appreciate the recommedation and am always willing to try something new! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif Clearly a matter of personal taste, but these bars just aren't for me. Luna bars are the only kind I've liked so far. Now if only Luna would add some fiber to those bars...
I'm interested to hear if anyone else sampled the Go Lean bars, and if so, what they thought.
