Since the June and July issues have been big disappointments I've been searching my back issues for recipes to try. I made this last night because the intro to the recipe described it as rich and decadent and I love butterscotch pudding but I was very disappointed. I followed the recipe to a T but it had almost NO butterscotch flavor at all - more like bland custard. (Custard is fine but I wouldn't want to eat a plain bowl of it, nor could I choke down a bowl of this stuff plain). The consistency seemed right so I think I followed the directions correctly but I just can't fathom how they could have called this stuff Butterscotch Pudding. It wasn't difficult but for the time it took, I would have been much happier with a box of Jello instant Butterscotch pudding.

Peeps, I totally agree with you! I made this a couple of months ago for myself and boyfriend (we are both Butterscoth-aholics!) and we both had a small bowl of it and threw the rest away. It was everything you said about it. To put it in a word horrible. It a very rare occurance for me to throw away anything I've made from CL.

I also made the Butterscoth Boston Cream Pie from the same article. We did not enjoy this recipe either.

I made the butterscotch sauce, and we were very ho-hum about it.
