This was an excellent summer dish -- the mango sauce was so amazing; very flavorful. It's a 'hey, look at me!' sauce. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif
I actually started out with a piece of halibut I had vacuum sealed in the freezer, and it was kinda not fresh, but I wanted to get rid of it, so I used it anyway. The combination of the sauce and the grilling still made it excellent. I'm saving the sauce, though, and this weekend I'm going to buy some good stuff to grill to serve with it -- I excpect it will be even more stellar. I served it with focaccia and Gazpacho. Really delicious.

I made this with not as much success as Emilycat. Actually, it was all my fault but I learned a valuable lesson: FLOUNDER DOES NOT DO WELL ON THE GRILL! Sorry for shouting, but I had to remind myself. I knew I needed a firm white fish, it just didn’t occur to me when I couldn’t find sea bass or halibut that flounder was not a substitute. I have learned something, and that is what this cooking thing is all about. :)
I also learned that as great as a food processor is, it makes for watery tomatoes and onions. So next time, the right fish and hand-chopped produce.
However, on a positive note, the flavors in the salsa were great. I don’t like ginger very much, but I would definitely try it again over some properly grilled fish.

I had very good luck with this recipe and I did use fresh Sea Bass. I'm with Emily on this one...an excellent summer dish! I also loved the Oven-Roasted Sea Bass with COuscous and Warm Tomato Vinaigrette. For that recipe I used halibut and grilled it.

I made this tonight with grilled salmon (it was on sale for $3.99/lb so I stocked up) and the sauce was delicious. It went very well with the fish. Great recipe.
Thanks milycat for the recommendation.

I was wondering if this mango sauce would go alright with salmon. It's not the type specified, so I thought I'd ask. What do you think?

I'm glad these positive reviews got bumped to the top again. My hubby was drooling all over this recipe last night as I made the Spicy Cumin-Crusted Chicken on the opposite page! He even has mangoes written on our grocery list!

My DB and I really enjoyed this recipe too. I used halibut rather than sea bass - halibut is still in season and available fresh, I've only found sea bass "previously frozen." Well, okay, the halibut was a lot cheaper too. :D
The sauce recipe makes A LOT. I gave some to my mom and froze the rest. The mango sauce froze really well. I just pulled it out of the freezer the other day and had a quick grilled halibut meal.
A quick mango tip...
My hairdresser likes mango quite a lot. She told me that the frozen mango chunks at Trader Joes are excellent. I picked up a bag to make this recipe. Chopping the fozen mango chunks was so much easier than battling a fresh mango.

I too used sea bass in this recipe. What a perfect summer evening dish. It was perfect with grilled asparagus and steamed new potatoes. Fine dining without leaving the house.

What an awesome idea - I use mango for a few different recipes and usually dread the mess and hassle - I wish I could buy stock in Trader Joe's - he, he.

Just wanted to give a thumbs up to this great mango sauce - with salmon! I know the recipe called for a white fish, but salmon was what I had - my DB and I loved it. The ginger in the sauce was fabulous, and the fruity sweetness... well, I could go on and on, but I would use this sauce with lots of stuff! Now to try the apricot sauce with the chicken (instead of the lamb in the recipe)...
:D
