My husband loves the "died and went to heaven chocolate cake." For his birthday he wants me to make a white cake similar to the chocolate cake. Does anyone have any good white cake recipies? A bundt style would be better than a layer cake.

P.s. I've made the "Patty cake" and we loved it, so not that one.

I think white cakes are generally made in layers as in wedding cakes. I picture the tube and Bundt type cakes being more like pound cake or sponge cake. CL had some excellent pound cakes in one of last year's issues.

Did you mean "white" in terms of a plain cake or one that was actually a white color?

Mindy, the blueberry pound cake is wonderful. I know its not traditional birthday cake, but its soooo good. I just made it for the first time on Monday and we've already almost ate the whole thing! With fresh blueberries available now, it is irresistable!

We love the blueberry cake!!! A pound cake would be a good idea. Has anyone ever made one in a bundt pan or do you need to use a tube pan?

mindy, that question has come up several times and the unanimous answer has been -- a bundt pan works just fine! (I know, becasue I tried it myself. I don't think I needed to modify the cooking time, but just be sure to watch it closely, as with any cake.)
