I love Jodi Picoult, too. I haven't read The Tenth Circle; is it new? I'll have to look for it.

I love her books, too. I haven't read one in a while, but I want to read "The Tenth Circle" next. I feel a drive to the bookstore is in order!

I feel like she's the best kept secret. I can't believe I've never heard of her.

You must have been living on Pluto. :)

I'm in the middle of Saving Faith right now. I liked Plain Truth, too.

No, just have two young kids, a job, a life....... :p

But seriously, she not popular around my way at all. A lot of my friends who are advit readers never heard of her. I was even talking to my son's school libraian about books and she never heard of her. Our local library doesn't carry any of her books.

Tiger, I beg to differ. I am also in the philly burbs and almost everyone's book club I know has done a Jodi book. Target's book club started with her book, My Sister's Keeper.

She has had huge audiences just this year in Bucks County and down at Penn, and I remember seeing her years ago at Chester County Books. Almost every book store I go in has a Jodi section.

I do like her stuff, very readable but also makes you think. She does manage to produce one book a year, she says it is like having a child, it seems to take her 9 months to produce one.

My favorite is Plain Truth, but I also liked Salem Falls and The Pact. Both The Pact and Plain Truth were also made into TV movies too.

Tiger:

Don't feel bad! I wasn't trying to "dis" you, but just point out what a wide audience Jodi has, because I am always trying to encourage more people to read her stuff.

I hope you continue to read her books (and stay on the Other Stuff board too!)

Well, i have never heard of her. Guess I am from Pluto. Maybe I imagine that I go to the library once a week and check out the new releases, recommended reads and fast read shelves (popular books).

I like most of her books--especially Plain Truth. The only one that I haven't overly loved was her new one: The Tenth Circle--just okay.

I've heard about her for quite a while now (since The Pact came out, I think), but the only one of her books I've read is My Sister's Keeper, and I thought it was fine for a light, quick read--the sort you'd want for travel because the story is engrossing but not too taxing. However, SPOILER ALERT POTENTIAL SPOILER TO FOLLOW, I thought the ending was sort of a copout. For the most part, the book did a good job showing that the issues at stake were not black and white, but then avoided taking an actual stand in the end. The ending was too pat, too neat, too easy. For this reason, I haven't been in much of a rush to read her other books.

i enjoy reading her books too. they definitely hold your interest and make you think. i know other's who have a difficult time reading her (because of her choice of topics/plots) and choose not to. her topics are "dark" and "controversial" which is the best way i can think to put it.
