I'm having a deck party on the fourth & thought I'd serve blue margaritas if I can find a recipe. Did a search & didn't come up with one. I did see recipes for regular margaritas.

Anyone have a tried & true recipe for a blue one?

This isn't "tried and true", but I borrowed several mixed drink recipe books from the Library and the "Idiot's Guide to Mixing Drinks" has a recipe.

Here it is if you're interested:

Blue Margarita
2 oz. white tequila
3/4 oz. blue curacao
2 oz. sour mix
1/2 oz. lime juice
Coarse salt
lime slice

Combine all ingredients except lime slice and salt in a shaker with ice. Shake vigorously, then strain into the serving glass. Garnish with a lime slice.
Serve in a large, chilled cocktail glass or wine goblet rimmed with salt.

Also, you can use ice in the blender to make it frozen.

Thanks REDcook. I'll probably go with that - unless someone has one using limeade...

You could probably substitute limeade for the sour mix, and then add the lime juice if needed. It would be a little different.

I think I could handle this, but not sure I could deal with the chocolate margarita idea. Guess I just want my chocolate to be chocolate.

That is what I was thinking - I'm just not sure what blue curacao tastes like - if it's sweet or sour, or more for coloring.

Thanks Vanessa - very informative. I had no idea there were so many curacaos.

I have one using limeade. I can do it off the top of my head, I've made it so much.

A small can of limeade
A small can of tequila
1 half can of blue curacao
1 can water
Put all in blender, fill to the top with ice, and let her whirl away!

If you can't get the small cans of limeade, just use a half of a regular one and adjust the rest of the ingredients accordingly.

Blue margarita:
2 oz tequila
1 oz Blue Curacao
1 oz TRiple SEc
1 oz lime juice
salt for the margarita glass rim
Put all ing in a shaker with ice. Shake and strain into margarita glasses

Note to Leanne:
Curaçao is a general term for orange-flavored liqueur made from the dried peel of bitter oranges found on the Caribbean island of Curaçao.

Curaçao can be colored orange (known as Orange Curaçao or only Curaçao), blue (Blue Curaçao), green (Green Curaçao) or left clear (White Curaçao). All variants have the same flavor, with small variations in bitterness. Blue and green Curaçao are often used to provide color to mixed drinks
