...and, if so, what are they like? I was looking at TicketMaster earlier today to see what concerts are going on in my area and they popped up.
Thanks!

I love Rockapella!! We are big fans of the college acapella scene (several renowned groups here at Carolina: Clef Hangers, Lorileis, Tar Heel Voices), if you're into vocals, you'll probably really, really like them! Never seen them in concert, but have some of their albums and I was a big (adult) fan of Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego on PBS, where they provided vocal back-up to the events of the show. They've changed personnel over the years, but go to Rockapella.com to hear some snips and see photos, get info. I'd love to go to one of their concerts, IMHO!

DS1 used to watch that show and that's where I know them from. I saw some info on them for a local concert recently too.

i'm a huge fan of accapella, too; long have been. i have an old Manhattan Transfer recording that is acappella, and DS was involved in it in college, too. i know i've heard Rockapella's work, but i don't own anything by them...i cannot imagine it being anything but a wonderful performance, go for it!

Aubergine--that is so cool that your son was in a group! Did they ever record? What was DS's group name and which college? Our Carolina groups host some invitationals every year and groups from colleges outside NC come and perform. (I was SO hoping Dear Nephew would try to join the UNC Clef Hangers (male group) when he was at Carolina, but, alas, Aunt Joan didn't get her own personal inside to the Clefs!). Our Clefs, Tar Heel Voices (guys and gals) and The Lorileis (stunning ladies) all have done many recordings and have won several national competitions (if you and I ever become swap partners, there's 1 item in your package!).
Lori, I was on Rockappella's site over Christmas, checking to see if they had a new holiday CD out (did I say albums before? Dating myself!), and I believe the original tenor from Carmen Sandiego days (cute little blond guy) is still fronting them. The Christmas CD I have is a wonderful work. They do all kinds of music, and if you've never heard "percussion" and "trumpets et al" ala all voices, you'd be in for a real treat to go to their concert. Do report back if you go (I need to check and see if they're coming to NC!).

Thanks for your input! The concert here isn't until September, but it's on a Friday night and I get up by 4:30 am on Saturday. I'm going to think about it, though!
