Hi All,

Does anyone have a recommendation for a personal chef service near Berwyn, IL? Sweetheart's mother is having some health issues and I'm considering hiring a personal chef to take away some of the cooking burden. I'd gladly cook for them but I'm too far away to be of any help in person :( .

I did a search on Google and didn't come up with much.

Any suggestions would be welcome and appreciated.

Although this would not be a personal chef, Check out Seattle Sutton's web site for the Berwyn area. I have used their services and the food was good and healthy and they deliver. Otherwise, I would suggest that you advertise in a Berwyn newspaper for a chef.

Oak Park is right near Berwyn, and I would imagine that there would be personal chefs there. Or River Forest.

Not sure what her medical condition is, but if she's able to get out, or if someone can help her, there are places such as Dinner by Design where you you go and put meals together to freeze. I have not been to one, but several neighbors go regularly. The food is all prepped and chopped - she or someone else would just need to put it together in the containers. I'm not familiar with Berwyn, but for groceries, www.peapod.com delivers, so it would be one way to ensure she has some staples.

Here is one I found in the yellow pages (Brookfield is near enough to Berwyn):

Lean On ME Ltd.
3310 Park Ave
Brookfield, IL 60513
(708) 387-0300

And here's a website that has a whole bunch of personal chefs listed.

Many thanks to all who responded. I'll do some research into the places you suggested and see if there's something that will solve the problem.

She says that the preparation and the cooking makes her lose her appetite - something she can't afford since she's lost quite a bit of weight and her energy level is diminished. When someone else does the cooking, she eats pretty well. She and her DH are such wonderful people and I really wish we were closer so we could help. Perhaps I'll find a solution thanks to your suggestions. The woman is closing in on 80 years old and raised eight children - it's about time someone else does the cooking ;) .

Grace, I've been to Oak Park (Penzey's) and Brookfield (the zoo), too. I'll do a search in those locations to see what pops up. Thanks for the geography reminder :) .
