View Full Version : Is there a site where I can write music and hear it?

I'm looking at a children's book that has a song that recurs with various words throughout the text, and on the last page the music is printed. However, while I know what the notes are, I can't tell how they sound by looking at them. (Not very musical, sorry.) I don't have anything to play the notes on. Is there a website where I can key them in and then hear how it sounds? It's not just this book--the situation has come up many times.

This (http://www.creatingmusic.com/) site has an area called a "musical sketchpad" that will allow you to put in notes and hear them played. Looks kinda cool!

Thanks Susan, that site is fun to play around with. However, I'm looking for something that will let me maybe enter specific notes on a musical staff, and indicate whether they are half notes, quarter notes, whatever, or even write it out without the staff. I'm pretty sure there must be programs you can buy to compose music on, but my needs here are limited, so I'm looking for something free.
