View Full Version : Water......water......water
Late day and I'm still trying to get that last bit in for the day. Some days are harder than others.
So, ladies and gentlemen, drink up. If you do, I promise I will too.

Thanks for reminding me - I'm sitting here drinking a beer and I'm behind on my water! But, I did get my 8 glasses in every other day this week, so I'm doing MUCH better.

I'm a part-time WW leader and water consumption is a huge issue for lots of our members. Here are some top suggestions that I have heard from members: 1)Drink one 8 oz glass of water with your vitamins or after you brush your teeth in the morning (1 down, 7 to go!). 2)Drink one 8 oz glass before you leave the house in the morning (2 down, 6 to go). 3)Take a sip from every drinking fountain (or bubbler as we say in Milwaukee)you pass during the day (3 down, 5 to go) 4)Keep a large (16-24 oz) mug/glass of water on your desk during the day and take frequent sips (4-5 down) 5)If you go out for lunch, drink 1 glass of water while you wait for your beverage/lunch order. If you eat at a carryout, order a bottle of water to drink while you wait for your order. If you eat at your desk-refill that water mug! (5 down). 6)Use a waterbottle when you work-out. Fill it up again when you finish your workout and drink another bottlefull as part of your cool down (7 down). 7)Drink one 8oz glass of water when you come home from work (8 down!!!!). 8)Didn't work out or finish your water at work? Drink a glass of water before you start your dishes.
I did an exercise where I brought in a pitcher and a 24 oz glass mug. I asked members to say "when" I had poured a glass of water. Most people are so used to "supersizing" they overestimate 8 oz of water. Once they see how small a serving that is, the 8 glasses seems more doable.

I wish my job kept me at a desk instead of on my feet and running for 8 to 12 hours a day. It would make the water drinking that much easier. I have found that the morning routine does work for me. It's the whole rest of the day that's the problem. Nice to see that I'm not the only one though. I do find that a little lemon in the water makes it sooo much more palatable!
When you get totally sick of water what do you do to flavor it up? I've heard lemon juice and Crystal Lite. One of my favorite 'mocktails' is half orange juice and half club soda. The club soda has no calories or sodium. I can easily do 2 liters of liquid that way (1 liter of club soda, 1 liter of OJ).

Well, I need to change my thinking, because, to me, a beautiful way to flavor water is to brew coffee with it.
But I promise to drink my water (after I finish my coffee!)

I drink with a straw and you would be suprised how easily the water goes down. I agree with the suggestion for serving water in a larger glass. Keep the water in the fridge. It seems to taste so much better. I always drink water with my meals. When I go to restaurants I request a pitcher for the table. Hope this helps! Janvan
