I have been fortunate most of my life to have good skin. Little acne and because my mother slathered me in sunscreen from a young age relatively few wrinkles. As I have gotten older though my skin has gotten dull. I don't wear a lot of make up and really don't want to start. I have seen ads by both Avon and Oil of Olay for products that are supposed to give your skin a "luminous" quality. Before I go out and spend money on these or other products, have any of you had success with a product that really seems to make your skin glow?

I also hate to wear makeup. I find that when I'm really following my fitness regimen and drinking LOTS of water, my skin has a naturally better looking quality. I tried a sample of Estee Lauder's "Spotlight" and it actually seemed to add a little glow and even out skin tone. I'm sure the lesser cost brands will deliver, I plan to try a drugstore brand when the top dollar stuff runs out!

I was never one to wear anything other than eye products until a year or so ago. A friend introduced me to Prescriptives Photochrome Light Adjusting makeup...a foundation that's light and not goopy like I've found some others to be. It evens out my skin tone and covers those annoying hot spots that sometime come up when you least expect them. I buy mine at Nordstroms, but I'm not sure if you have that store where you are.
I'm not sure I'd call it luminous, but it works for me http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

I had some occasional breakouts a couple of years ago so I went to the dermatologist and I got on a program of alpha hydroxy acids. It made such a difference in my skin. Some of the fine lines disappeared, my skin became clearer and the dullness left. I used a brand from the dermatologist costing about $40. I liked the way it worked and thought it was worth the price.

Then I saw a book called "don't go to the costmetics counter with out me". The book compares all kinds of products from makeup to cleansing products--from very expensive to drug store brands. It had another product with the same stength of AHA as the one I paid $40 for.

I have been using the Alpha Hydrox brand for the last few months and I haven't been able to tell a difference. They sell it in drug stores.

I would highly recommend it to help make you skin brighter.

Hi - I think tons of water does amazing things for skin - I also have purchased 'Re-Surface' by Lancome and it is truly amazing - it's expensive - think I paid $75.00 Canadian - but it lasts for months and you need only a couple of drops once a day with a light moisturizer over top - I too have been blessed (knock wood) with pretty good skin and a little oily - but want to keep it that way - this stuff works!!!! There are probably cheaper things around like Roc and Vichey - which I just might give a try when this is finished.....tried the Spotlight but found it was too shiny and definitely not for all over your face - perhaps on nose and forehead....just my opinion http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif
