Well I decided to go ahead and start for this week because I had an awful week. It started with the weekend before last and didn't really get better. I skipped my WW meeting all together because I couldn't face the music. Then I only walked twice all week and lifted only twice. But you know what? I'm okay and right back on the band wagon this morning. I got up and lifted and I purposely wore my "skinny" pants today just to make sure I didn't do any permanent damage.
I'm going to be extra good this week to make up for it and hopefully when I go to my WW meeting on Thursday I will have reached my goal.
How was your week?

I'm starting to notice a pattern... I do OK eating-wise during the week, but the weekends are killing me cause that's when we're usually out to eat (I try to be good)or at a party (very hard to be good). I did work out a lot last week, though, and am dedicated to my weight training. Still have not noticed a big difference in the way my clothes fit yet. Maybe it was the half batch of cookies I chowed on... :/
I've decided the "cold" I've been fighting is allergies because no cold can linger this long. So I'm getting back on track, trying to work out aerobics and weights. Of course it's been so long, I have to build back up. Can allergies make you bone tired? I'm drinking loads of water so I'm not dehydrated.
My goals for this week are: work out at least 3 (preferrably 4) times at 30 minutes aerobics and do arms and abs 3 times. Then I want to turn this into a habit that lasts longer than a month or so. I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired. Exercise will help.

I did okay last week. I think part of my problem with running was that I was getting burned out. So I only ran twice but I did go hiking 2x (one day had killer hills) I only lifted 2x but that is better than none. I really need to watch my eating though, I am getting really addicted to carbohydrates. I want to lift 3x this week and aerobics 4x still only running 2x and x-training the other days.
Hope everyone reaches their goals.
Hi- everyone! I have just found this HLSG so this will be my first week to be keeping track. Last week I only exercised once http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/frown.gif so I have a long way to go. Goals for this week are to exercise three times- I usually run. On the days I am not running- do toning exercises at home. As for meals- doing ok there, but there is room for improvement.
Have a great week everyone!

Okay, from my smiley icon you can see that it wasn't a good week.
Therefore I need to put up or shut up. I'm talkin' the talk but (literally) not walkin' the walk.
Enough of the clichés... http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/eek.gif
At least I'm not gaining.
Kelly, where are you??? We need some cheerleading!!!!
BevP - I was starting to also wonder if your cold was just a cold. Have you been to the doctor? My dad just had walking pneumonia which made him VERY tired for quite a while. Not trying to be an alarmist here, but I don't think it's generally normal to be tired from a cold for so long. Best wishes for a speedy (well, speedier) recovery!
Mightyh - uh,oh - cookies are my downfall! I try to make them only when others will be around or when I'm giving them away - that way I can have just a few and not be tempted to eat the whole batch!
Best of luck this week!

I had a "so so" week, but this week is starting off better. My husband always seems to sabotage my healthy habits. Last night, I wanted to eat at home, but he wanted to eat out at this super Thai restaurant. I insisted we eat at home. He pouted, but was glad afterward. Yikes. I leave for a business trip and am vowing to avoid temptation by booking myself at a hotel with a decent restaurant. If I start the day off healthy, I seem to do better for the rest of the day. Exercise-wise - I'm on track so far

I was out of town all last weekend and noticed that I didn't get to walk at all! I did all right eating through out the week and then the weekend came and things seemed to go downhill!
But I am planning to do a much better job this week.
Keep up the good work everyone!
To Lindrusso: I told myself if I'm still feeling like this at the end of the month, i.e. tired and such, I'll go to the doctor. I just really don't want to walk up to a doctor and say I'm tired. There are too many tests!! Ya' know what I mean!!

Well, I kept on track for most of the week. I'm resisting the temptation to weigh myself, but I bought new jeans and they were a size smaller. I think, like Laura, I am also a carbo addict and need to cut back on them. I am going on a business trip, so it will be hard to stick to it this week, but I'm determined to find the fitness room in the hotel and use it!!!!
Hang in there iqueen. You have really done well and have accomplished so much! Everyone every once in awhile has a bad week.
Lindrusso-- Thanks to you we are all getting support from this board! Like you said, at least you are not gaining, and I have a feeling you are going to do great this week! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/wink.gif
Welcome ML!!!!!
Wonder how Kelly did this week?!?!
Have a great week everyone!!!!!

I haven't posted anything the past couple of weeks, because I really haven't been very healthy. I guess that's when I should have been posting, because that's when I needed the most support.
My biggest downfall has been the chocolates so many people in my office keep on their desks. They have big candy jars full of Hershey's Kisses, Reese's cups, and other really dangerous candy! I had been telling myself a couple pieces would be okay, then I'd end up going back for more and eating WAY too much candy! Then I'd feel guilty and awful for the rest of the day, even if I exercised.
But this week I'm doing great! I've really told myself I need to be serious about my health and quit fooling myself about that candy! So far I haven't dipped into anyone's stash, and I also have been much better about not snacking on unhealthy stuff at home either. That's really my main goal for the week -- limiting the empty calories. And also keeping up on my exercise. I haven't weighed myself for a couple weeks -- maybe I will next week.
Good luck everyone! You all sound like you're committed to your goals, and I think that's really what it takes! I know we all can do it -- I think I just need to believe in myself a bit more and not give in to those little chocolate voices in my head!

This was a better week for me, thank goodness! (This is my first time posting on the weekly updates, hi everybody). I was hitting a real plateau at WW (three weeks at under a pound lost each week, couldn't get below 150 lbs).
This Tuesday, though, I lost 2.8 lbs and am now almost 3 lbs under 150! Whew...
What did I do differently? Oh yeah, I didn't cheat at all, I only saved 1 point from 1 day to the next, and I added 5 minutes to my twice-weekly treadmill sessions. Guess I know what I have to do...
I think everyone gets kuddos for trying so hard, recognizing their downfalls but getting right back out there!!! There are days that I think it's not worth working on but then I read how everyone else is doing and I'm so inspired again. I will head to the Y tommorow based just on that! You guys are awesome!
Go Team!!!! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

I had to post because I'm encountering an unforseen set-back. Suddenly my 3-year-old will not stay in the babysitting room and he has NEVER had a separation problem which is actually pretty unusual for kids.
One of the girls there accidentally (as in she's too inexperienced to realize) scared him. I'm REALLY hoping it's temporary! I don't want to traumatize him (no way can I leave him there when he's crying and has a death-grip on me), but I also don't want to give up my workouts at the Y!
I've coaxed him into trying again tomorrow. It was SO depressing to succeed in dragging myself to the gym and then not be able to work out! There's always tomorrow....

Lindrusso-
I admire that you go with the 3 year old in tow. My kids are 8 and 11 and I still find it hard to make it out the door. We will keep good thoughts for you and your little one but have you thought about investing in some relatively lightweight dumbbells (3, 5, 8 adn 10#) I know it is great to get out but on those days when it doesn't seem to work it is handy to have those at home so you don't feel like to you are missing out entirely.

Lindrusso,
The poor little boy! Hope tomorrow goes better. And yes, how disappointing that must have been for you. More than once, I have had to give up a workout I was really looking forward to for one reason or another after coming to the gym, and it s a shame. Keep us posted.
Yes, Laura s idea about weights is a terrific one. You might want to invest in an inexpensive stationary bike or stepper also, or follow cardio and strength training videos. And if all else fails, just put on some music when you do stuff around the house and move as much as you can or as much as your heart desires! Maybe your kids will join you and have some fun with it! At least you get out the kinks that way...good luck!

Sounds like most of you had a pretty positive week - good! Lindrusso, hang in there. You got us started with this great group and I know you have it in you to meet your goals. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif We're all rootin' for ya!
My week was very, very active. I need sleep so badly that I don't even feel tired!! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif Feeling in pretty decent shape, physically, and thinking and working ahead to new and exciting goals.
Talk to you all next week.

Hello Everyone. Well, I went from having that killer cold right to the flu. The flu! Already! It's not even winter yet - argh!
Anyway, I got a couple days of exercise in last week before I was struck down and sentenced to my bed. Not sure how I did in the weight loss area though since I missed my weigh-in day at the gym. This week is looking better; I've been to the gym 3 times and will be there tomorrow morning also.
Lindrusso & Missi - thanks for missing me!
The next few weeks are going to be tough ones - Halloween = Halloween Candy! We have a big Halloween parade for the employees' kids in my office and everyone brings in candy to pass out. Whatever is left stays on desks so there is always the temptation of eating it. & then there is all the stuff the kids bring home. I'm sticking with my plan of not eating chocolate during the week though so I'll make it through this.
Have a great rest of the week everyone!

Kelly - Glad to hear you're feeling better! Well, when everyone else is sick and miserable, at least you'll have gotten it over with!
And thanks to Laura and Natasha for sympathy and suggestions! I do have some equipment (hand weights and a step), but I find it very difficult to work out at home. If I do it when the my little one is awake - he'll "help" and when he's napping I'm trying to accomplish other things. If I really TRIED I could do it, but I focus MUCH better when I'm away from the house. At the gym I can't get distracted by the phone, the computer, the cleaning, etc.
That said, if it comes down to it, I CAN exercise at home, it will just take a lot more effort on my part and won't be as enjoyable.
I think I won't even try today - I'll let a few days go by and maybe he'll start to forget about it a bit. I can also try to go when the girl he doesn't like isn't there. I really don't think it's separation anxiety though - I just dropped him off at a new preschool today and he had no problems whatsoever.
Kelly-I hope you are feeling better!!! What a bummer! With the flu shots in scarcity this year I wonder if we'll all be joining you! Wondering if it was hard to get back up to your previous exercise levels with being out and sick. I've not been to the gym in about a week and a half and I about died Weds! Today felt a bit better but gosh what a wimp I was! Didn't think I'd loose that much stamina.
Lindrusso-I agree it's hard to exercise at home-I get side tracked and feel guilty not doing the laundry, etc. I hope your 3 year old is more comfortable next week! How's preschool?

Great jobs, everyone. Even the sick ones are still doing the best that they can. I am experiencing one of my cyclical danger zones: The "Woman Eat Like Bear Then Hibernate" syndrome. The first cold snap of October and I just have these strong natural impulses to overdo on carbos and sugars. My body wants to put on a thick layer of fat then sleep under the comfortor until late March! I allowed in a few treats but for the most part tried to keep a handle on it. Also got in three aerobic classes, a yoga and a weight training session, and jogged on the treadmill today. I'm getting better at the jogging, it's starting to feel "natural" and almost enjoyable (although 15 minutes is my max). I power walk, then jog, then power walk uphill. Good luck everyone, in keeping clear of that Halloween candy!
