I really want one, but I have been known to buy applicances or gadgets and never use them , I don't want this to end up with my salad shooter and my snackmaster! So I really don't want to spend a lot of money. How does this one look to you all? Is it a junkie one that I should stay away from? Do you know what makes it "express" is it just because it is a 4qt or is it because it is missing some essential feature that the other more pricey models have?

Thanks!

Katy,
Seems like an excellent price for a 4-qt stovetop pressure cooker and it has "Two independent over-pressure release valves assure no pressure build-up" which it a great feature.

I have a 4-qt and an 8-qt electric pressure cooker and I wouldn't give them up for anything...okay, maybe if Curtis Stone came and cooked at my house every night!

Beans done in a pressure cooker are so much better than simmering for a couple of hours (45 minutes in the cooker!). Risotto perfect every time without standing around stirring forever! Boiled potatoes in 6 minutes (once it reaches full pressure)! Very good time saver!

Thanks! Where did you get your electric ones?

Thanks! Where did you get your electric ones?

One is a Faberware that I bought at an outlet mall and the 8qt is a Hobbs that I bought at QVC online.

My only concern would be the size. I have a Fagor 6 quart, and it's sometimes too small for what I want to do in it, and we're only a family of two! :o Remember you can only fill them 2/3 full, so you'd be limited on what you can make. I'd assume that's why they call it 'Express'. It's a smaller sized pressure cooker.

A friend of mine has this 6 quart Cooks Essentials cooker from QVC. Personally, I buy nearly everything on QVC, and I'm always satisfied with their products. My hard anodized cookware is CE! :D

This one is modeled after the Fagor, and has a low and high pressure setting. Not much more money, and you're getting a bigger size and a 30 day money back guarantee. :) Whoops! The link won't take you to specifically that item. :( It's item #K6003

Thanks ladies, I feel like I am obsessing about this purchase! Good point about the size Jewel. I kind of would like to make soups and such and freeze portions, there are 3 of us in our family now, and we hope to make it bigger soon :) so maybe I should go with an 8 qt.
