I was a little disappointed in the story of
salt. While almost everyone Needs salt in their diet, they need 'raw sea salt.' Refined salt may add to the flavor of food but does little for health. I realize this is not a Health Food Mag. but since 98% of the food we eat is almost mineral free, we need sea salt to replace the minerals in our diets. The bodies electric/magnetic system does not connect well without enough salt and PURE Water. Stay away from 'tap' water with the chlorine and flouride which are both poisons. Also stay away from Flouride in toothpaste. Just doing these 2 things and using real 'unrefined salt' will make most people feel better within weeks. (or even days)
Try it you'll like it. Also most sea salt or 'real salt'tm. will make food taste better also.

Happy Holidays and Great Dining.

what about having good teeth? I usually depend on the flouride to help me with that. Are you sayin that sea salt will replace the protective properties of flouride?

In the "all things in moderation" category - one of the tenets of Toxicology is that "the dose makes the poison". For example if you were to consume 10 pounds of potatoes at one sitting you would probably experience an ill effect - therefore you could call potatoes a poison. As with anything, there will always be "sensitive receptors" or people who will have a lower tolerance for certain compounds that the rest of us can consume without harm.

In my most humble opinion, I would rather drink chlorinated water than have cholera or dysentery. In the US where we have a reliable water supply and also scads of different types of bottled water and the Culligan man, we have the luxury of choosing whether to drink water with or without chlorine. I would dare say that there are many "third world" countries out there that would be grateful for safe, chlorinated water as they are losing people everyday to water-borne disease.

As for the fluoride in the water and toothpaste. I'd say get your dentist's opinion before cutting it out - especially if you have children.

As for me, tonite I'm gonna brush my teeth with my flouride toothpaste and then rinse my mouth with my chlorinated water and sleep like a baby.

I do agree that sea salt does just taste better though!

Well, off the soap box. Hope I didn't offend anyone. I study toxicology so I probably come at issues like this from a little different perspective than some. To each his/or her own.

Sage, I agree...moderation is so important. I still shake my head in amazement at folks who have antibacterialized and sanitized everything in sight and wonder why they and their kids keep getting sick. That's off the salt and consumed substances line, but same theory applies.
