Hello Everyone!
OK - it's a new week - time to get back on track with being healthy.
I have pretty much written off the last 2 weeks since I was sick. This week, however, I'm going back full steam ahead! I got to the gym over the weekend for a great step class; I was exhausted afterwards, but felt like I had done something good for myself. Of course, I then ate way way too much chocolate over the rest of the weekend (I just love chocolate!), but today is a new day.
How did everyone do last week?

Kelly, I did terrible last week. Went to four meetings where FOOD was the emphasis ! Thought I did not have time to take care of myself and do my walking (and my proper water intake), and ate junk food between meetings and running around like a chicken with its head off. Did NOT plan ahead for snacks/meals http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/eek.gif and just totally messed up. However, Monday gives new hope. I have done my exercises today, eaten a proper breakfast, packed some water and apples to take while I'm off doing errands, etc. So, I will try to keep my CHINS UP.

I'm making an honest effort this week. Like you, Kelly, I have been sick for a week. I still cough a lot (stress a lot). I joined the Y 2 weeks ago and have yet to use my membership because of this cough. I don't want people looking at me and wondering why I'm there when I'm sick and giving it to them. I'm finally ready to break down and visit the doctor. I thought I was over it but Sunday I was coughing bad. So I've been a slug for over a week and going to bed very early. My only plus is that I've put more water into my body than I ever have before. It soothes my throat. I worry for when I'm better I'll quickly get out of that water habit.

I was happy with my commitment last week--didn't eat too poorly and exercised a lot... The kind of week where you feel like something's missing on your days off from the gym. Hopefully I can continue this this week.

Well, I went out of town this past week and thought for sure I would get off the routine. I promised myself that I would find the fitness room there and even took workout clothes. Well, I did eat well and worked out while I was out of town, but then came home and have been a pure couch potato!!! I blame it completely on traveling just wearing me out. Plus my future inlaws are in town, so I've been cleaning like a maniac. I'm really glad it is Monday and I'm going to try and get back into the swing of things!
Have a great week everyone!!!!!!
I did not exercise as much as I wanted to- but did ok eating during the week. We went to my parents this weekend and I kinda blew it there. We can NOT get GOOD mexican food in my town- so when we went to Austin this weekend we ate mexican food THREE times in a row- lunch, dinner, and breakfast! It was WONDERFUL http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif hopefuly that will cure my craving for a while.
My husband and I talked about our lack of exercise recently and have made a joint decision to be better about it and to help each other find time to exercise. We have two, new, nine week old puppies- so we are going to trade off watching the puppies while we work out. ( This is our trainging for children- http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/wink.gif
Looking ahead to a great week and wish everyone the same!!!

Hmmm...Exercise was so-so. Lifted twice, ran 1x, hiked 1x (altho I went hiking in Vail which has a base elevation of 8100 feet so even if you aren't working that hard you sure feel like it!) Diet wise I did horrible. The kids wanted to make chocolate chip cookies and I have done more than my fair share of eating them. Hope to do better this week. I am lifting this afternoon, so maybe starting out good will set the tone for the rest of the week!

Hello and Happy New Week to everyone. I had a good weigh in last week at WW. Lost .5 lbs. Only .8 more to reach goal. Maybe this week, although doubtful the way the weekend went. Did walk 6 miles on Saturday but the rest....yuk! Well we will keep our fingers crossed. Hope everyone else had a good week.

Well, as some of you read on last week's thread, my exercise efforts were sabatoged, so we'll try again this week. I will try the gym again tomorrow, but if that doesn't work, it will be plan B which is to exercise at home. As far as eating goes I did pretty well. My older son got sick on Saturday which kept me from going to a Halloween party. It was too bad we didn't get a night out, but I at least I was saved from all that food http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif .
However, the little guy is "acting up" in more ways than one - he refused to do anything the teacher said at the Y today during swim lessons! So even though I know he was truly scared in the babysitting room last week, I also think he'll use that situation to push my buttons, so I need to get him back to the Y and used to going again!
Take care everyone!
Kelly and Jenny, hope you are both feeling back to normal by the end of the week! Lindrusso, hopefully your son will recover as well and you can head back to the Y.
I was faithful last week but had missed exercise for almost two weeks before. I have felt very PMS-like and have noticed pants that I FINALLY had gotten into now are too tight. I hope that this extra "bulk" is lots of water weight! This will be the first period after being pregnant (1 1/2 years!)-For some reason this feels depressing although I'm not sure why... http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/frown.gif
We have three Halloween parties coming up in the next week plus Trick or Treats! Yikes!!! This will truly test my will power!

It s almost time for next week s thread, but what the heck...First some misc. comments:
Kelly and Jenny, hope you re feeling better by now! Mary, glad you re not sweating one bad week - we all have them! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif Mightyh and iqueen, congratulations! Andi, look forward to hearing about how you survived all those parties http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif
And ML, congratulations on your new puppies!! How fun for you, and how exhausting! What breed are they?
Things have been pretty hectic here. I had about one evening home in the past 10 evenings but kept on training, though a bit less than I would have liked. It has been a terrible month (well, not everything about it has been terrible, but for the most part it s been very tough) and I don t have my usual voracious appetite and enthusiasm for good food. I m eating well and healthily, because I know how important it is, especially when training. But it is a drag when you don t feel like eating (or, for the most part, cooking!!). I want my normal appetite back! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/tongue.gif Hopefully before too long... *sigh*
On this point, if I may step on the soapbox for a few seconds ... even for those seeking to lose a few pounds, I believe that the ability to truly enjoy cooking and eating great food is a wonderful gift that should not be taken for granted. Please cherish it. Happy cooking and eating light to everyone! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif
Sorry for the corn - I just had to say that. Food for thought (pun intended) http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/wink.gif Anyway, hope you agree. I m stepping off the soapbox now. Time to head out for a run on a crisp and sunny fall morning!
