View Full Version : What a naughty runner I am!

I'm so ashamed...I was scheduled to run the Atlanta Half-Marathon on Thanksgiving morning, and I slept through it!! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/redface.gif
I woke up at 5:15, and I just couldn't make myself go -- I was running the race by myself (no running friends in Atlanta, isn't that terrible?), and I was driving home later that morning to go to my parents' house, and I just didn't feel like taking the Marta back from the race for 30 minutes all by myself. I know, whine, whine, whine.
So I turned my alarm off, and got back in bed to think about it, and I woke up 2 hours later! So I just went for a 7 mile run and drove home.
Anyway, I guess I just feel like if I confess my sin to you all, I won't feel so dreadful about it. After all, I did run it last year... I just can't believe I did that!

Emily,

Don t sweat it. I ve heard of others doing the same thing. Moreover, I have quite a hunch that this particular race was not one of the Big Ones for you (you know, the ones you go crazy training for and that you think about for months), so it s not that bad to miss it!! BTW, are you still doing Raleigh?

Emily,
So you'll run the next one. Don't sweat it. It is a lot easier when you have someone to go with, isn't it?

Ran my first 10K on Thursday. Made it in 58:06 which was great for me. I usually run about 9:45/mile, so I was very happy.

And you still ran one more mile than I did. Good work!

Natasha,
You're right; it definitely wasn't a big race at all...just something I registered for because it's in my area, and I felt like I needed to do it. So I guess it's not that big of a deal. I think I am going to do Raleigh (right, no hard and fast decision yet -- I seem to waffle so much, don't I?) I'm planning on it, but I think that in my mind, I'm just not concretely sure. Does that make sense?
Susie, congratulations on your race! What an accomplishment...great job!

Thanks, guys, for your support, and responding to my whining! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif
