Oh my my. Last week was very bad. Actually exercise I was ok, I ran twice and lifted twice but I have been on an eating binge. Not sure what it is all about. More stress than anything, I guess. Anyway, today has not helped in the slightest but I hope to do better this week. No predictions as I don't want to fail. Hope the rest of you do well.

Yeah, this is a rough time of year. It is hard to get motivated to go to the gym when it is 5 below zero BEFORE the wind chill (here in Minnesota). At least it warms me up...

Also on an eating binge...until I got on the scales this morning. I suddenly got my will power back...hope it sticks! I would like to lose 4 lbs by the end of the month, then 4 pounds in January, 4 pounds in Februaury. That will put me 6 lbs away from my goal, and 2 weeks away from my trip....

I will, no matter how bad food choices are, continue to run while in IN (I hope its not too cold!!!)

Everyone knows my past few weeks have been a total wash. So far test results have been normal which is very depressing since I'm still sleepy and tired. But, at least back at home now, I can eat healthier choices. I'll try to convince my body to exercise. I bought a cheesy romance novel to put at the Nordic Trac. Maybe that will help. I'd like to walk but I'm a weather wimp and 40s is too cold for me.

Laura, Jessica, kwormann and everyone else out there, keep trying. Or at least try not to fail.

Hello all! I think I did better last week. The Christmas cookies are still getting me, but I think I didn't binge as much as usual. Instead I would snack on microwave popcorn or fat free yogurt. I know there are some of you who may be thinking that I should snack on fruit. Yeah, I know I should, and I bought some, but it just doesn't happen. I am working on it though.

Excercising is still going well. I do weights 2x a week and run 3x. I would like to run another day each week, but something always comes up.

Hopefully I can last throught the rest of the holidays like this.

Well, I think I'm not gaining any weight, but I can't credit that to how I "performed" last week. I ate plenty of fattening food, but I do have to give myself credit for not STUFFING myself as I've been known to in the past. I only got to the gym 2 times - so much for that 5th make-up day!!!

This week I hope to make it 4 times, but haven't been so far. Instead, I've been getting my exercise shoveling snow!! And ice!! Pretty good workout. And kneading that pasta dough - that's hard work too http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif .

I'll probably weigh in tomorrow and find out for sure....

Congrats everyone - sounds like most of us are doing pretty well. Usually by this time of the year I've pretty much gone to h*** in a handbasket - or something like that.

Oh and Kim - is 0 at night with below zero windchills too cold for ya??? I think it should be pretty average most of the time - it's the layer of ice all over everything that's hazardous!!! But, I think that Muncie (it was Muncie, right?) only got rain.

O.K. I'll check in this week, I've been reading but not posting lately, cuz I just can't get motivated. Started to exercise again, but if I don't do it 1st thing in the AM, best bet is it isn't going to happen http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/frown.gif

I just can't get motivated like most of you, maybe it's the time of year and not being with my family...that really stinks.

Anyway I"ll keep reading and hoping that by posting and making a committment to exercise at least 3 times this week, I can get back on track. Wish me luck Ann

I'm trying to hang in there, too. At this time of year, I think "doing the best we can" is still positive and appropriate. We're pulled in so many directions. Maybe our mottos until New Year's should just be, "Try Your Best" and "Don't Give Up."

Getting to the gym has been spotty, but I still got there when I could and use my balance ball or do yoga at home when it's too cold. Christmas goodies are nibbling at me (ha, ha, get it?) but I'm trying to make up for it with very sensible meals. I studied up on the new Winning Points program and have implemented it so I can help our customers at Weight Watchers. I think it will give a much needed boost. Hey, I wonder how many calories get burned in a holiday shopping expedition? As long as you avoid Au Bon Pain, that is!

Last week was hard but good... I managed to run 4 times despite the weather, traveling and starting a new job. This week is a different story completely http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/frown.gif Some of you know, I now have a 75 mile commute to work (one way).... Last night, the plan was to stop at my dad's house and run on the treadmill on the way home. That plan disintegrated when I heard the forcast for 6-10 inches of snow starting at midnight. I drove home, packed and drove back to the town I work in to stay in a hotel. I am now alone at work watching it snow with another night reserved at the hotel. Soooo.... the plan from here is to run when I can later in the week, then do better next week. Gina

Andi-

Oh yes, we are planning to move!!! It is hard because we JUST bought a house, then all of a sudden both our jobs changed. I love my house, and hate to leave it, but hate the commute tons more! Fortunately, for the next 4 weeks, we get to commute together.

Unfortunatley there is no pool or exercise equipment at the hotel. It would not have been my first choice of places to stay, but it is the hotel that the airline Brian works for has a contract with, and they are paying for the room. Still snowing.... Gina

Man Gina!
How do you do it?! A 75 mile commute!!!! Are you planning to move at some point? Yikes! Anyway-I think it's great that you are at least thinking about ways to exercise when you spend much of your day driving! Maybe you can get some exercise while snowed in at your hotel!

We are snowed in (10 inches!) too and enjoying those minus digits as mentioned by others so getting to the gym is not an option. I'm trying to do sit-ups and lift some weights. My eight year old is home sick (ate 12 pancakes last night and then threw up on her sister's bunk below her-fun night!) and said that she couldn't believe she was seeing me "exercise". Anyway-I'll do what I can!

Lindrusso and Natasha-Thanks for the words of encouragement in the other thread! I'm starting to mellow out a bit although still have a few more gifts to buy-I've got to leave those perfectionist ideas behind!

Stay warm all!

Gina, Andi, Lindrusso and everyone else in the winter weather, you make me feel guilty for whining about my weather. Ya'll talk about snow in inches and how it sort of gets in the way of running or driving to the gym. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif I promise not to take my itsy bitsy VA weather too seriously.

Keep those positive feeling going. And Gina, good luck enduring the commute until you find a great new place to live.
