I refuse to post any further information on the grounds that I may incriminate myself http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/frown.gif
Here's hoping the rest of you did better. If nothing else, lie and tell me you did so I can get my sorry butt off the chair and into the gym!

Well, if it makes you feel any betterm I have gained 4 lbs over the course of a month. I have, however, also "kicked up" my exercise, so I am feeling better. I plan on exercising Mon and Tues, Wed off, traveling Thurs (but still hopefully doing 30 min, when we get there) 30 min Fri, Sat and Sun. I will then be one more sesson away from starting week 4 !

Come on, Laura - you can do it! You were doing so well with your running and weights, right? PLUS you have such a beautiful, uplifting setting to run in.

Maybe if I tell you about my dream last night it ll motivate you to train for your next triathlon. I was doing a triathlon that I was not ready for in the least. I think it was a half Ironman. I did about 2 1/2 hours of it, but in the swimming portion, I wasn t swimming at all, but rather crawling on a running trail. Then I stopped off at this inn for some reason, and was lounging around there, talking to people who had finished the race ages ago. They were talking about all the training they had done, while I had trained for only a few weeks. It occurred to me that instead of hanging around, I should be continuing with the race, but then I realized that I didn t have a bike. Fortunately, I woke up around then! Okay, maybe this doesn t motivate you to do another triathlon, but hopefully it made you laugh anyway ... http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/wink.gif

BTW, how NEAT that your fiance coaches Division I!

Kim, good going! Enjoy your trip later in the week. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

I am feeling completely frustrated already... I spent the morning exploring my options for indoor exercise (running outside is not even remotely an option, way too cold, and still ice covered roads). The options are 1) join the University gym in the town where I work, 75 miles away; 2) use my step-mom's treadmill (but I worry about my knee since it hurt so bad the last time I used it) or 3) call the local (20 miles away) "Y" and see if they have an indoor track. (okay, just did that, no track).

The University has everything, including a 1/6 mile track, but I am not there every day (this week I am only scheduled to be there Tues and Wed.) I still think that is the best option though. Since we will probably eventually move there anyway, it makes the most sense to just go ahead and join there.

I need to get beyond the frustration the weather has posed and remember that even if I can't complete every single day of the workout, doing what I can is better than not doing it at all. Thanks for "listening", Gina

I've had a delightful weekend with the stomach flu-I don't think there is anything left in my GI tract now. The good news (if any) is that I'm now just a few pounds from my goal weight! I think I would have preferred a different method of getting there but oh well http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/rolleyes.gif
We are getting yet another dumping of snow (5-8 inches on top of the near 17 we've gotten over the last week). This is a most amazing winter! We've received more snow in just these last few days than we did all last year. I'm sitting tight and figure shoveling snow will burn some calories...

Gina-hang tough-Maybe the university gym will be the best option for now until you get moved. It's not ideal but at least you could get in a couple sessions during the week.

Kim, your exercise plan sounds quite focused so would bet those 4 lbs. don't stick around long...

Go Laura go!

Natasha, I'm quite amused by your dream!!! There must be something to it!

Next week is Christmas!!!! Good luck all!

I think I'm still hanging in there, but since we've been stuck home so much I'm only wearing sweats - so it's kind of hard to gauge!

I'm going to try to make it to the gym today as we are due tomorrow to get the snow you're getting now Andi. It has been amazing! Schools are off today because of blowing snow. So much for getting lots of errands done. If we can't get out tomorrow, at least I can shovel for exercise.

This week will be my toughest challenge yet. My in-laws will be here Weds. (and then my parents on Saturday as well) and not only do we tend to eat more than usual, but we tend to indulge in a nightly cocktail hour as well! My MIL likes to work out though, so maybe we'll hit the gym a few times while they're here.

Have a wonderful holiday everyone! Don't despair!!! You can do it!! Sorry to hear about your weekend Andi - I once lost 5 pounds that way - not a pretty thing!

Sorry to hear that Bev. Hope things are looking up soon.

I'm sorry things aren't going well, BevP.

Lindrusso, I don't know where you live but it could be here in Minnesota. It has been snowing all day and I am dreading the post-work shovel. The good part is shoveling is a good cardio workout--gets my heart rate up as high as the freerunner does. And, since the roads are not plowed, I won't be making it to the gym.

I lost a half pound last week and now am focused on maintaining through the holidays.

This board is such an inspiration to me. Keep the great messages coming.

Happy holidays, and a safe journey to those who are traveling.

I am not a doctor but has your thyroid been checked. I had a male friend of mine who had thyroid problems who was depressed and little or no energy. For some reason it was not diagnosed for awhile. I hope things improve for you.

Woo hoo! I made it to the University gym today and did my run! It was so great to just get there and get it done. They have an elevated, banked 1/6 mile track. And, because I made the trip, I also went by the office and picked up my fancy new laptop! It is VERY nice! Gina

I just deleated what I was going to write. Suffice to say, I'm depressed, physically, emotionally. And I abstain from really trying any fitness right now.

Bev, I was just thinking that since you are an artist and domestic management specialist, that you may take artist's license to do WHATEVER you please at this time. If nobody has told you to your face just recently, just remember, YOU are precious, important, and a valuable human being. Take care of yourself. Nobody else will do it for you. I care enough to write this to you. Wish I could pick you up in my car and take you for coffee and chat!

OK, I'm feeling a little better today so will share with my loving family here. My maternal grandmother died 2 weeks ago as you know. Well, Saturday, my paternal grandmother died. My aunt is not going to do a funeral (she says its missouri weather). So that put me in a very blue funk on Sunday.

I have been to a doctor for this continued tiredness. Many blood tests so far come out normal. I mean to ask the (blinking) doctor exactly what tests he's run. Among those tests will be a visit with a psychiatrist since I have a history of depression anyway. Well, I didn't need this shrink when I made the appointment but now!!!! Can't wait to see her!

Artist temperament doesn't help. Being tired for months hasn't helped the scale. The scale hasn't helped the mood. And all that before adding two deaths in two weeks. Thankfully I have a loving supportive hubby and wonderful neighbor. And ya'll!

By the by, I did work out yesterday, 30 min on nordic trac, and plan to today. It helped. And to he** with the scale right now. Just make it through the next month. Thanks for listening.

First of all, Andi, did you know there is no such thing as the "stomach flu"? I learned that in my food safety classes. You probably got food posioning. Who knows where you got it, but maybe think over what you have been doing to prevent it happening in the future!

BevP - Hang in there and I just hope it is not something serious. Although it would be nice to know at least.

I had a pretty good week. I ran 3x for 16 miles total and worked out 2x. I think all that running really helped because the scale said I lost 1 pound. I am not sure if it is a "real" pound or a "fake" one (that is what I call my normal weight fluctuations), but it is nice to see the scale go down. Of course, it never fails that once I start really seeing some improvement something comes up. This time it is Christmas and I think all that running in below freezing temperature has caught up with me because I am feeling a bit under the weather. I found some ear muff so next time I will be ready! It is going to be so hard to be good next week. My goals are to run every other day, excluding travel days and limit the sweets, but not completely cut them out. I have gotten really good about portion sizes. Counting calories really helped in that area because I now know about how much I should eat to be full and I usually am so I stop. The tips I got from this board have really helped, especially in restaurant situations so I just wanted to say thanks and keep them coming!

Enjoy your holidays!

BEV,
This is tragic to have two significant deaths in your family. Hopefully, you can find some time aside to enjoy your immediate family during these holidays. We are sympathetic to your loss.
When I clicked on your e-mail, I got a message saying it was not a valid address?
You can check it if you want to....

First, a note to BevP - I'm terribly sorry for your loss. That is reason enough to be blue, but for many of us, the time of year (short days, long nights) greatly increases sadness, anxiety, whatever. I hope that you will feel better soon. Try to get some motion in when you can, it's the best anti-depressant.

To the rest of the gang: I join the club. I gained 2 lbs. at my weigh-in at Weight Watchers last Saturday and I'm an employee! That was enough reason to adhere to the updated Winning Points program. I think I've gone down a little with lowering calorie input, even though things have been preventing regular workouts. But I still got in a few good ones. Tomorrow night is my final, and then lookout - no more excuses (until the next semester).

Happy, happy holidays to all of you! We will be "reborn with resolution" come January! And all those treats and goodies will stop enticing us for a little while.
