Merry Christmas and otherwise Happy Holidays, everyone! I'm starting us off this week for two reasons: (1) to try out the wrist pad and neat wrist support mousepad my son gave me for Christmas, and (2) to keep us going, no matter what! I'm glad to say I actually did better last week than in the preceding few weeks. I got to the gym more (Christmas shopping done, final exam over) and with less stress now that Business Law II is over, I really refocused on healthy eating. Packed lunch and snacks every day and prepared light and healthy meals for the family at night. I just came from my niece's house where I indulged in one large piece of homemade fudge and three butter cookies, skipped the cheesecake and chips entirely, and loaded up on shrimp, cocktail sauce, and veggies with lo-fat dip. And some cheese and crackers. I forced myself to stop nibbling at the addictive sesame sticks since I still have to make Christmas dinner for my husband and me - roast tenderloin of pork, potatoes mashed with garlic and celeriac, roasted asparagus and bell peppers, and a bottle of champagne. I just came here for a motivation break! I'm taking Dec. 26 off to clean the house and workout for 2 hours. I hope all of you are well and enjoying the holidays - PAT

Well last week was not a good week for me. I had good intentions but got hit with food poisoning or a stomach flu on Friday and did not feel back to normal until Sunday night. I guess the up side is I definately didn't gain any weight. My kids are with their dad for 8 days so I will use the free time to get my exercise routine on track. My daugther says she would like to start running with me two days a week so that will be fun. (Good excuse to have slow days as well http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif) Wishing everyone the best, Laura

Despite my wishes to the contrary, I will post this week. Last week was a total sugar fest with leftovers still in the house. And MIL is visiting for a couple days (twice in ten years, yippee) so that takes care of exercise time. Spend it cleaning!LOL
Anyway, I survived physically and emotionally. DH gave me Taebo for christmas (from my wish list) so I'm looking forward to having my own copy. And again the resolution is to tone up.
Christmas is over so the excuses MUST end. See ya'll here.

Hi all! Finally, a break (a VERY short break) in the hoopla to check the bulletin boards.
Actually, last week was pretty good. My in-laws were here and we did a lot more drinking and eating than usual, but I did manage to get to the gym 4 days last week. It helped that my MIL is also trying hard to maintain a fitness program, so we motivated each other.
I weighed in at the Y yesterday and was actually down a pound or more. Go figure. We got in two workouts this week, but that may well be it! Because of traveling and such, I won't make it to the gym again until sometime next week, but I'm hoping to be able to at least fit in a few walks.
Support and encouragement from all of you has really made a difference this holiday season. I did indulge, but I didn't get WAY out of control because I've become much more dedicated because of our interactions. I was even able to say no to things I would have normally just shoved in my face without thinking twice. That's a BIG improvement for me. So thank you all!!!
So, now I'm just hoping that I can keep this up for the next week or so - my SIL is not at all dedicated to exercise in ANY form, so I won't have the extra motivation I had this past week. But I've come this far, so I don't want to blow it.
Good luck everyone and Happy New Year!!!
