About how long does it take to get from Union Station (Amtrak) to the Field Museum? Our train would arrive at 11:14am.

Are there any good restaurants in the very near vicinity of the Amtrak station for a late lunch?

Thanks!!

It's about 2 1/2 miles from Union Station to the Field Museum (about a 7 minute drive according to MapQuest).

Not too sure about the restaurants down there but, if you are planning on arriving on Sunday, some restaurants near the train station may be closed.

I don't live in Chicago anymore so hopefully, someone else will chime in.

Okay, hopefully you didn't need this info for today....

The area around Union Station is pretty business oriented and won't be open on the weekend. About midway between the Station and Field Museum is Printer's Row and Dearborn Park. At Dearborn and Polk there is: Hackney's (burgers) Bar Louie (perfectly kid acceptable, we took DD there all the time: sandwiches, etc) Gourmand (coffee shop with yummy sandwiches and salads)....There is more in that neighborhood, but those are some good, quick lunch options.

Sorry-

I should have been more specific.

We would be in Chicago on a Thursday, next month.

We would also take a cab if it would be faster.

Hello--

Unfortunately, Luciano's downtown has closed.

I work right by Union Station--it's a bit sparse in terms of restaurants (besides lots of fast food), but there are options.

Rivers is located at Wacker & Monroe (in the Merc. Exchange).
There is a Giordano's on Jackson (near Wells).
Italian Village is nice--it's near Monroe and Dearborne (??)--there are 3 restarants ranging from casual to expensive.
There's also Pazzo's at 311 S. Wacker.
The Millenium Park Grill on Mich. Ave is supposed to be good--but can get very crowded.

You may want to call ahead to make sure these places are open in the late afternoon--some restaurants in the loop are only open through lunch time.

Also, a great resource is www.metromix.com--you can use it to find restaurants in your desired area. You might want to try searching the near south loop or Printer's Row--this would provide you with more options. I'm sure south Mich. Ave has lots of options as well--they continue to build up that area, so there might be some newer places there.

Have a great time!

Ashley
