...it premieres tonight at 9. From 8-9, they have a recap of last year.

I'm not used to the new night, so I'm afraid that I'll forget!

Is it bad that this was the first thing I thought about when I woke up this morning? :o

How sad is it that I"m planning to send DD to bed about 10 minutes early so I can watch unineterrupted!!!

For those as obsessed with this show as I am....Shonda has posted an update / preview at www.greyswriters.com - and as always, the writers of each episode will blog their process of writing after each episode airs.

Enjoy!

I am ridiculously excited about this! I didn't realize there was a recap before hand - thanks for pointing that out.

I'm very excited, too! I need to go to WW and the grocery store tonight, so I've got to rush myself in order to get home in plenty of time...it might mean just weighing in and skipping the meeting.

Whoops, yeah, forgot about the other time zones - I can never keep track of what time it is where. ;)

I was in my Toyota dealership waiting for my car to be inspected and they had the latest issue of Good Housekeeping on the table. Yummy!

I read Shonda's post, and want to send out the message of what she said. If you have enough time today, and you happen to own the 1st Season DVD of the show, she suggests that you watch the very first episode, because there are supposed to be some things happening tonight that will be clear if you remember what happened then.

It all sounds very cryptic, but I'm going to try to fit a viewing in!

Thanks for the website... I wasn't going to watch the recap, since it's on at the same time as Survivor, hmmmm, I may rethink that! ;)

My boys are older - 9 and 12 - so they don't really go to bed very early - the youngest at 8:30, the older one at 9:00 (on school nights) - but I don't really want to watch these shows with them around either. I usually send them out of the room. They have a TV room in the basement they can use, so I don't feel too bad, but their computer is in our TV room.......

I love having the DVR we just got this summer - now I can pause it while I help them get ready for bed/school! :)

I wish that worked for dogs. I've already had the conversation with Cody regarding the fact that he will NOT need to go outside while I'm watching the show tonight. Thing is, I could let him out before, but if doesn't have to go, well, he refuses to go out the door. He will just have to wait for 10:00, that's all there is to it!

Hee-hee. Bailely used to ALWAYS know JUST when I had settled all comfy and cozy on the couch - at just that moment he'd come over and ask to go out.

Now he's chicken to go do his business in the dark, so he doesn't ask anymore - we have to make him go.

He is also known for chewing on his squeaky toys - LOUDLY - while we're trying to watch a movie.

I have been watching for the first the time the reruns playing and I am confused. I watched from 8-10 last night and the end with Denny in the operating room. Is this the end of last season? As I was going to bed, it was still on from 10-11

So did I miss the last hour of the season finale? And if so what happened

Alysha, I only posted the other time so that anyone out here didn't end up missing it! I hope you didn't think I was poking at you. :)

I've now hooked my mom but she'll see it an hour before me so I told her she wasn't allowed to call me, we'll talk tomorrow. :D

Nah, Robyn, but those of us out here forget that there is any other time than EST/EDT. ;)

Laurie - You did miss a lot in that last hour! You can check out the recap here:

I am so excited I can barely stand it. As it is I'll probably make it home just in time for the recap show. I just need to remember to stay out of this thread while y'all on the east coast are watching! :p I only have to fight a cat but since his usual m.o. is to camp on my chest while I'm on the sofa I don't think it will be a problem.

Remember how I said that Bailely doesn't ask to go out at night anymore?

Thanks goodness for the DVR!

Whew - what a rollercoaster. It was very draining to relive last year all at one time!

Funny, when they showed the earlier scenes of Meredith and McDreamy tonight, I liked Meredith better then and him better now.

And can I just say that I couldn't be happier that Meredith's bangs finally grew out????? At least mostly. I wanted to snip those things off all last season!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, then it's good for them that people like me aren't aware of that. :D

But wouldn't they quarantine anyway? And the one person who died had other complications, so it wasn't clear what she died from - the plague or her injuries.

Not that I'm suggesting they didn't try to pull one over on us. ;)

I enjoyed the show last night, but it was soooo emotional. They usually are, but this one seemed to be as emotional as the finale. Made me want to hug everyone I know. Looking forward to the rest of the season! I'm so glad this comes on after The Office.

I loved that they had the flash backs of everyone. I thought Izzy did and incredible job of portraying her feelings (her moments on the floor). I can't wait until next week~

At least in CO, plague is reportable, but nor quarantinable in 99% of circumstances (there are 3 forms of plague, and the least common, pnuemonic, I think is quarantibable). Even if it were quarantined, you would not be denied medical treatment! Prarie dogs (and other rodents) are the spreaders (their fleas are the carriers), and cats love to eat rodents....so we learn about it a lot. You don't want to be the one that lances the "cat abcess" (really a bubos!!) and lets all the bacteria out!

OTW I liked the show, but I think a lot was setup for the coming season...

I love Callie! She is going to be a part of the "group" in no time.

She went into his room, started crying and managed to blurt out "Don't ever die, okay?", or something along those lines. He was visibly taken aback by her uncharacteristic display of emotion.

Speaking of that, did anybody get the sense that Sandra Oh had to try REALLY REALLY hard to get that crying to come out? I'd never seen an actress struggle in all my life (at least, that's what I thought!) I wasn't even sure she was trying to cry until I saw tear fall as she put her head on his chest - I thought she was just faking it.

I totally agree. I was going to comment that I didn't think it was very well acted and that she does a much better job at the angry stuff. Maybe she messed up by trying to make it look like it was hard for her character to let the tears come and ended up just making it look awkward all around.

But isn't that sort of the whole point of Yang's character? That she's so emotionally repressed? Thanks for telling us what she said, though, I couldn't understand it.

Oh yeah, definitely, but we're saying it looked like she was having a hard time with that scene as an actress, not as a character. Although I think she was trying to convey that her character was having a hard time expressing herself........it just didn't work somehow.

ErinM
09-22-2006, 11:40 AM
Yes, you're right, that IS Christina's character. It just seemed like in this case the audio of her crying was there, but there was no visual to go along with it that made it believable. So, what I heard was crying, and it really sounded like she was very upset, what I saw just seemed to be her hiding her face with the massive amount of hair she has. (Which I am very jealous of, BTW. ) It just didn't seem to match.

I wish I could watch the show again tonight and see it a second time...but alas, I have to work, so I won't be able to.

CTV showed the second episode instead of the first. I felt kind of like a few things were missing!!

Anyways, ABC is showing the first episode tonight at 8pm. and CTV is showing it next Thursday at 8pm. for any other totally confused Canadian fans.

Did you see the scene when Christina was lying on the bathroom floor talking to Izzy? Izzy asked her how she'd feel if Burke died.

When Christina walked into his room and then curled next to him on the bed, she lost it..and then she said something along the lines of 'promise me you'll never die.' He replied with a quiet "I'll try."

I think the biggest part for me was that they always have Christina so in control of her feelings. After worrying about him being shot and then Izzy pointing out what a close call he'd had, when she saw him, she lost it.

And then, everyone watching lost it. Me, too.
