I have this cute, flouncy black skirt that goes with everything. I need to find a pair of casual black shoes that will go with the skirt. I'm seeing a lot of flats this fall, which will NOT work for me. I look like a tree stump in flats. I prefer a short heel of some kind. I work from home, so I don't need an office professional look. Just something cute to wear when I volunteer at school or go out with friends.
Here's the skirt:

What do you think works?

Robin, i love the shoes they have with the skirt in the photo. But those may be too low healed for your taste. I also think boots would look nice with the hemline of the skirt.

Get thee to Zappo's and look around.
The style I immediately thought of was Angel by Hush Puppies, in black patent.

I had a pair of them (and will have another shortly) that I beat to death going to shows. I needed something pretty but comfortable (foot injury) and these were both. Here's a page from Zappo's:

They have a high satisfaction rating, free shipping both ways, and good prices. Can't lose.
(disclaimer: I do not work for Zappo's, do not own Zappo's, and have no interest at all in Zappo's aside from spreading some good word.)

The patent leather are cute, but I feel like they're way too dressy for my life. Right now I have the skirt on with a white tank top and a denim jacket--and leather thongs from the summer. That's about the right speed.
I also like the shoes they show with it, but I wasn't sure if they were casual enough, either.
Keep the ideas coming. I'm off to do my stint in the school library, but I'll check zappos when I get back!

I'm buying these in red next Friday (pay day). They have a tiny heel but I think they are adorable!

Those are cute! I love the way they did the toe. I can't order mine till pay day next Thursday. Dang, I missed those shoes - got compliments on them, too!

Those are rather luscious. Who makes them?

Two Lips. I love the name of the company so I want them even more. I might get black as well. :p

These are from isabellabird.com and only $79.
Or Brighton sandles (http://www.brightonretail.com/store/wishlist.php?m=product_list&c=9v). Their sandals are very comfortable and versatile. :)

I was curious so i tried and at first I couldn't do it either. Being stubborn  I tried again and pruned off the last part of the address I the part after and including the the ? sign) and it worked. I don't know enough about programming to know why but at least it did work.

Yeah, Robyn, glad it worked for you. I agree with Melody that boots would work nicely with your skirt. I never really got "into" boots until the last few years but have discovered that they can be really versatile and comfy. Sort of like this look.......

Boots are lovely for about 2 days in January and February in Houston. Cowboy boots are a different matter because they do not fit tightly on the leg like fashion boots. I agree that boots would be cute as the dickens during Rodeo (coincidentally in February/March), but not on our 90 degree 'Autumn' days.
