...That's part of "Healthy Living," isn't it? http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif I'm hoping to tap into the infinite wisdom and experience of you fellow BBers out there. There was one Christmas present I desperately wanted but didn't get: warm slippers! So I've set out to get them for myself. After doing a long search for slippers on the Internet, I've found all different kinds but I'd really like personal opinions/recommendations on what styles, brands, etc. you prefer.

Here's my criteria:
*Must be warm! My feet are always so cold!
*Just for indoor use (i.e. don't need heavy-duty soles for going outside)
*No clogs/scuffs--I like my heels to be covered http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

If any of you can offer your advice and help, my little piggies would thank you oh-so-much!

TIA!
Libby

I have a pair of fleece slippers made by Acorn, I think. They have a slight sole on the bottom so that you don't slip, but are not made for outdoor use. I have been quite happy with them, and if they aren't warm enough, sometimes I wear them with an extra pair of socks underneath.

I think I have just what you are looking for. I didn't use to be a slipper person until a friend gave me some "foot duvets" from Restoration Hardware last year. I've since been giving them as Christmas gifts. Think down comforter for your feet. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif They are so warm and comfy without getting your feet all sweaty. They are three pieces of down filled cotton that fit around your feet--one size fits all. They reverse from navy to hunter green and retail for about $20 on their website. You can wash and dry them at home. Check them out!

I have found "THE" slippers--they are LL Bean and are fur-lined moccasins. I have the duvets to which mightyh is referring and they do not compare--for some reason I can feel the cold floor through them. I highly recommend the LL Bean ones!!!!!

Yea! Thank you for the great recommendations. I will check all 3 of these out. I can't wait--tonight I resorted to putting on my rubber gardening clogs over socks just because they keep out the chill from the floor a little bit...

Thanks again!

I tried to post this the other day. I love my Polartec booties from Lands'End. If it's cold and I'm at home, they're on my feet. I got both of my parents a pair for Christmas, and they love them.

The things I like the most:

They come up over my ankle, so drafts aren't a problem

They keep my feet warm without making them sweat--a problem I had with down slippers in the past.

Good luck in your search and may you soon have very warm feet!

Mary Ann, you beat me to it- I bought my mom a pair of Land's End slippers last year for Christmas and she still wears them. She really likes them. Land's End has a great selection, too, of different types. Oddly enough, my mom's name is Mary Ann (spelled the same way, as two names!)

Well, I decided to go with the warmest-of-the-warm, the fur-lined moccasins. But I don't know, maybe I need to get a second pair of Polartec or down-filled--your reviews make them all sound so great!

Thanks again,

I love my Isotoner slipper socks. I got them years ago and they are still in good shape. They are a warm and fuzzy sock with treads on the bottom so you don't slip. Very comfy and warm, esp if you don't like big, poufy slippers.

Just wanted to give a quick slippers update to you kind BB'ers who posted your advice! I've had my furry slippers for almost 2 weeks now, and I love them. In fact, my husband ended up getting a pair, too! I had checked out various web sites and prices, and the ones I ended up with that seemed to be the best value were at http://hpsheepskin.com (in case anyone else is interested). They seem to be very similar to the ones I've seen at LL Bean, Uggs, etc. but a little less expensive.

Long story short--my toes are warm again!

Many thanks,
Libby http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif
