View Full Version : Cooperative cooking ideas?

I am hosting our supper club next month and would like to plan a cooperative cooking activity. Usually the host chooses a theme and the SC members just bring a dish to share. I thought it would be fun to do some cooking together but I have not had any inspiration on what to make/prepare. Any ideas would be appreciated.

You could do potstickers, wontons or eggrolls. You can make the fillings ahead & then you would have plenty of help to assemble and cook them. You could also have people making dipping sauces to go with the finished products.
We did the won-tons once with a supper club I belonged to - I got the idea from this article in Sunset Magazine.
You could set up your cooking area into separate workstations kind of like the Dream Dinners or Super Suppers idea.
Each recipe would have a workstation with the recipe displayed at the workstation. All of the ingredients would be prepped already and all tools such as bowls, dishes, utensils, and measuring devices would also be at the workstation. Everyone could pair up with someone to make their recipe.
You might want to give everyone coming to dinner a list of things to bring such as measuring cups so that everyone would have one available when they need it.

I've done sushi and that was a fun group activity. We made 3 different types - it was fun because it was a little challenging to learn how to roll the roll but it was a good group activitiy because we were helping each other out.

We made pasta once. Two of us rolled pasta on our machines (dough made ahead) while others cut & filled ravioli & tortellini with various fillings. Our striped pasta turned out beautifully. We also made multi-colored fettuccine. This worked well with a small group of 6.
